Islands that may kill the player, either neutrally or actively. These islands should look like normal islands, with no way to find a difference, besides drinking a revealing potion (thanks for the idea @Bio ) or getting attacked.

Examples

The Living Forest: A forest island that would be passive normally, but if a player cuts down a tree, all other trees could start shooting magic apples and pinecones at them, which could do ~50dmg each, they could also be collected by players(?). Maybe, instead of trees shooting apples, they could turn out to be ents, or just smack the player with their branches.

The Deadzone
My other idea is to make a barren island with creatures resembling the Harvester from the Vita Carnis ARG in the way they could attack, having roots that can go out of the ground to damage players in a similiar manner to urchins, but stronger. The crestures themselves may look like big heaps of grass, or hay bales (this could suggest that before the immense magic pollution this island was a farmland, and due to the before mentioned magic pollution, the hay bales grew roots. Jumping, Tjumping, carrying cargo or running could trigger the roots, so exploring would be possible.

Stormkeep
Remember Randal? Yeah, the guy who used his growth curse to fuse himself with a tree. My idea is that through his adventure, he encountered enemies, one of them being , and he proceeded to fuse him/her with a giant island fully made out of stone. The island itself would be able to damage players from a giant tower (Stormwall reference) using lightning strikes. On the island, there could be an old keep from the times before the magic pollution, filled with chests, but the island should be able to use unique electric traps to kill the player. If the player stands still or doesn’t move enough, the island could 1-shot them to prevent AFK chest farming.

More ideas on the way.

I’m not into puppet horror, I prefer the liminal kind of horror. (Yes, I am a backrooms stan, still, in mid 2023.)
My fav levels are 139 and 940 on the wikidot.

Then there is also video about liminal land(theme park)

I hate it.
Perfect.

(the solution was, is, and always will be fire)

how about add Harvester from fear and hunger instead of Harvester from the Vita Carnis ARG?

I generally want more psychological horror in the Dark Sea (or just more horror in general like even Jumpscares)

Have something in the Dark Sea staring and stalking you like an Alternate, have inhumane Vita Carnis monsters, hear whispering from different directions, all that

Cool idea, would also be cool if the islands were very rare but maybe had like a core bossfighting to ‘kill’ the island by doing a bossfight in some cave or something and you had to shoot the core. would drop maybe something like lost spells (not lost magic spells) or just random reagents for new potions for confusion potions or other cool things.

I have watched it already, enjoyed.

I don’t like this idea, first off, you would probably die before entering the core room, and slso that’s lots of programming for vetex.

it would be cool if islands rarely had like some “dark knight” looking ah enemy that just stalks you.

moves slowly initially but sound attracts it and if it sees you you will not escape

unkillable and instakill :D

oh god

Unkillable stuff like this is bad game design

no? the point is that you can’t fight it and have to avoid it

When you drink a revealing potion and the entire island glows:
