The Mainland is in AG-influenced territory/ is an AG protectorate so Im considering that an AG discovery regardless
The fact that the lore is still changing, like renaming Durza to Acheron, the uncertainty over whether WoM is canon, or the shift in how minds work compared to AA, is mind-blowing to me.
How is this not nailed down? How can you create a game where worldbuilding and lore are supposed to be the backbone, yet fail to keep fundamental elements like character names consistent? I understand the reasoning behind some of these changes, but if the lore remains so flexible and malleable even as the game approaches full release, it’s concerning. These are the kinds of details that should be solidified long before development begins.
I’m not trying to hate, I’m just genuinely confused and concerned. The world of this game is constantly changing and being retconned, which makes it hard to follow. I feel like I don’t know the lore because even the lore doesn’t seem to know itself.
Ehh you could certainly argue that but I don’t think the AG bought out the inventors until after they made their discoveries.
Fair, but again im like 90% sure that the AG have men stationed in the Mainland, and alongside the Merchant Guild control the region, aside from having to agree with whatever local governance would exist in the Mainland
It’s never implied their struggling against the Corsairs, just that their at war and it’s a very uphill battle for the pirates.
And for all we know they could have a supercurse user in their ranks who rivals Durza or Theos, we literally don’t know enough about the war seas yet to make a proper judgement on which faction is more impressive
That’s exactly why A.G should be perceived as stronger, even if OSP didn’t really bother trying to fight them. They still had a majority control over most of the cluster, they basically abolished every major kingdom by forcing them to unite except Alalea. That alone should put them ABOVE the GN.
Sure, it’s likely that every other kingdom was fodder. But they have access to SO many resources, I genuinely see no way that the GN could actually be stronger than the AG unless they whip out the Ragnarok mortars.
I’m gonna be real, Vetex should’ve done most of the rewrite before he released AO. There was a lot of downtime for him to properly rewrite the story, like renaming Durza, fixing mutations and magic lore, the entire Aurem debacle, basically almost everything that he’s rewritten up til now.
Yeah it’s very concerning he’s still making changes to the AU’s lore, and these aren’t just minor changes such as Durza’s name. I may not be a game developer but I do believe having a concrete idea on your world’s lore is the first step before putting anything into motion.
It feels like vetex himself has no clear idea on what he wants his world to be like. Which inadvertently makes understanding the lore way harder for people than it already is.
Has bro even played AO? It’s VERY implied that it’s a struggle.
Infact on Blackreach Island it’s clear that the Gravy HAS been struggling agains the corsairs, for literally since before they had reformed into the Gravy itself.
The Gravy literally can’t take out Jawspire fodder… they’re not even Captain Ahab level
I doubt so. And if they did they’d be under the thumb of the Order, since if they actually had full control of said hypothetical Supercurse user, they would have annihilated any Piracy, long before AO starts.
We know that their ineffectiveness to stop piracy is an issue, as seen by Quests in Ravenna that outright state the AG cannot handle BASIC piracy.
Fair, but again theres not alot to compare the AG to, so it seems pretty regular to someone who isn’t thinking too much abt it
I mean yeah its kinda confirmed
The strongest nation independent of the AG or the OSP that came out of the First and Second seas was the Savarian Empire, which at most only had one Curse User, who used the Sand Curse.
Yeah, no idea how they DON’T outproduce, especially when they control the Mainland. The Mainland is at minimum European Russia sized, seeing as the Seven Seas is North America sized.
Either that, or he has difficulty figuring out how to translate what he wants into the game. I really could not say.
The story seems to have a much clearer plan, but the lore itself sometimes feels like it’s being made up on the spot. I know it might sound harsh, but as a player who doesn’t have the time or interest to constantly keep up with every new answer Vet gives, and just wants to enjoy the game, that’s exactly how it feels.
I feel as if this is partially true especially under the circumstances when a patreon member asks questions to vetex. Like “wow how is the player going to get lost magics?” and then vetex presents a system he rightfully hasn’t fully thought out yet because the system won’t be relevant until like 2 years from now
It could be either one really, could be both for all we know. Unfortunately we will never fully know as vetex likes to have the transparency of a brick wall.
I’m not asking for anything major here I just want to know how development for the AU’s lore is going.
Holdup what’s that other circle out of frame
“Sky” but it gets cut off
Yeah… seems to be working out real well too. His pvp rant was definitely transparent.
Yeah I agree.
Same. I want to learn more about the world because it’s genuinely really interesting.
Wait, arm too? I swear it was just the leg last time I checked
Maybe it’s like elysium? Or something idk
Oh you’re correct, I must have conflated the event with something else. My bad, Theos only took Durza’s right leg yeah.
Elysium should be overtop of earth, if anywhere on a map, right?
Maybe Averill’s arm?
