Yeah I don’t think a super secret evil organization can just afford to put out a job posting stating “Evil second-in-comnand wanted!”
“Teaching him everything” is very broad of a term, I don’t think the Order was potty training a 15 year old Calvus, so whoever did was probably a Ravenna noble who would have gladly exploited a young and impressionable heir.
because it’s not important yet
and there’s pretty much nothing about them in the game yet
you can play the entire story and not know about the aberration
it’s more just side content for now, like how neviro’s family and stuff is side content (but we know more about them than we do about the aberration)
Did you really ignore the part where I said if the Ruler is a High Lord, any general under them can be made a Baron; And literally any criminal can be approached to do their work, that’s pretty much how any group has worked (not even a secret group, any group) when they had to do something anonymous — They hire a random capable person to carry out their job.
Is that supposed to be a refutal? I know it’s a broad term, and Calvus credited the Order with this broad term.
Was the headcanon’d Noble? Does it have anything to do with Calvus turning out corrupt?
Very weak strawman at best and second of all, why? Maybe read this section again:
You know what, let me make it as simple as possible so you don’t have to resort to fanfiction:
Imagine if instead of the Order, it was the Oathkeepers that took in Calvus and let’s say THE NOBLE did corrupt Calvus in 15 years before that by potty training him, and 20 years later Calvus turns out exactly the same, with no signs of them trying to improve his character at all, but with him having more power at hand, and to top it all off — they also make him a Templar. How credible do you think their claim of “being a group of peacekeepers and trying to keep the War Seas safe” would be then?
Now take the same line of logic and apply it to the group apparently trying to “save the whole fking world and not just a Sea Cluster”!
the analogy doesnt really work because the oathkeepers are a lawful good group whereas the order of aesir are presumably a chaotic good group
they don’t care about what calvus does because he provides them massive influence, power, and resources, and also lets not forget the things calvus did that did cause peace (such as the sameria ravenna keraxe treaty)
compared to the two previous rulers, calvus doesnt actually look that bad, just cleaning up what his forefathers have already done while actively doing good things politically
A chaotic good group in assumption also wouldn’t do anything that hypocritical or evil. The Order would be chaotic neutral (for the “ends justify the means”, “trying to save the world” version), or lawful evil (for the “previous version not making any sense and them just being smart at making agenda” version, lawful in case they do something to save the world) at best.
That would work if they didn’t have a direct hand at making Calvus this way. Considering they had the chance, the only way they wouldn’t even try to improve Calvus, is if they outright didn’t care if Calvus grew up to be a piece of shit and utterly corrupt. And this could very well be the case for all 6 High Lords of the Order, and the Order of Aesir as a whole.
That is if we ignore what he was secretly planning to do with the Death Curse.
He is still doing what his father was doing, only Nero stands out as this exotically evil person in his lineage and that is all because he was just that more powerful. That doesn’t make Octavius or Calvus any good, Nero was just that bad!
Yes, due to the influence the Order gave and the convenient timing of Wotan being interested in the Dark Sea.
Funny how the Order made sure to give him power and influence, but couldn’t make any effort to improve him as a person.
Not at all, but then again I am arguing with a person who is seemingly entirely unable to read into any subtext or implications, feverishly puts down any theory or the like made by anyone other than vetex or themselves, and has repeatedly misspelled the word “noble”.
Since the term “legacy” comes from posiedon calling the player “strongest will of all legacies”, what if that means they’re actually called “wills”? Y’know, strongest will!
As it turns out, however, not very many legacies are named Will, so that’s a really low bar. Since most legacies named Will are descendants of gods like Janus or Eros, William Silas is actually subpar in terms of legacy strength, and by a long margin.
Wait… so, if the Darkflame and Prometheian Flame Grand Fire Curses were retcon, then were they replaced with a different, new GFC? Or just completely gone and just leave Scorch, Inferno and Aetheral Flame?
Sorry if this was already answered and i’m just too lazy to scroll
regardless, they share completely different ideologies which was the point of the statement
you cant say that the outcome is the same when operating on two different groups because corruption is something the order would not care about since they are trying to save the world at any cost whereas the oathkeepers specifically had calvus in their sights and were planning to assassinate him anyway, the analogy simply doesn’t work.
there’s no confirmation of the order influencing how calvus acted, he comes from a lineage of rulers who did this themselves with no order intervention and we don’t know when exactly the order made contact with calvus
all we do know is that they presumably offered calvus power in exchange for absolute loyalty, and that it was presumably somewhat recently as weird stuff didnt start happening until we got involved (or at least, nobody investigated weird stuff, so there’s really no timeframe of when this happened), and also that it likely happened after caesar’s death so calvus would of been at least 9 or so iirc (more than enough time to indoctrinate a child into a certain kind of thinking fit to be a ruler, and then the years he would of spent serving under an advisor who likely shared that same sentiment since i believe they are appointed by kings so it would of been caesars advisor)
how? him wanting the death curse does not change that he made a peace treaty between 3 kingdoms
i always just thought of it as he wanted power since he had some sort of inferiority complex (likely due to his father dying to thorne for seemingly no reason)
correct, which is why its more reasonable to assume his “corruption” is due to his lineage rather than the order
it’d be weird if he was less corrupt than past rulers despite having been both taught by them and also having made contact with a group that you say corrupted him further
the order didnt give him any influence, he gave them influence, since he was the ruler for an entire sea cluster
we don’t know what exactly the deal of the treaty was but i doubt it was simply because wotan was interested in the dark sea because it was never stated that now he’s magically uninterested, he’s warring specifically after calvus died so my headcanon was that it was some sort of resource or information trade that can no longer be upheld after calvus’ death
as for the order not trying to improve him, why would they? they’re an evil group that are trying to do good, there’s no incentive for them to try to undo years of conditioning from his father and risk him leaving the order and spreading their secrets just because he killed a few people and neglected one of his towns, big deal
Well I wouldn’t expect someone so keen on criticizing Vetex’s writing or so ready to give suggestions to improve the world building of the story, would be so offended or shocked at someone criticizing their idea or anyone else’s idea for that matter, it’d be rather… hypocritical.
According to the miraheze wiki "There are currently 3 known Grand Fire Curses, however there are more that have yet to be named, " but there’s no source on that so I’m not sure if it’s true.
