Magic change cost

No, but they have incredibly fucked up affinities and status effects

“According to this chart, if you eat, that’s 150% damage extra for me. I also get 200% more damage because you’re moving. Oh, wait, are you breathing too? That’s another 450% damage.”

I understand that Vetex doesn’t want us to change magic frequently, but a microtransaction was unnecessary, let alone a $20 one. Instead, big V should focus on making the f2p method more accessible, or at least change the way you obtain it.

Idk about you, but I think there are better ways Vetex could’ve implemented a magic change than to have his players search for a cloud of gas inside the dark sea. It’s extremely tedious and luck dependent, you could say its like trying to find a needle in a haystack

But on the other hand, It is true that magic changing wasn’t ever supposed to be a feature and Vetex only added it cuz everyone kept bitching about it, so I guess I can’t be too hard on him

What can I say ¯\(ツ)/¯

people just cannot stick to 1 magic without actually going mad for a mere 5% affinity change

90% of all forum arguments are caused by topics regarding Magic. Coincidence?

#warriorsupremacy

The argument that it’s 2000 to discourage people from buying it is stupid, Because you might as well just not keep it then

Magic change is excessively hard to find and wastes your time for no reason, It’s clear that it’s designed to either grind premium funds or just have you purchase it with a lot of money. This is scummy practice.

This game has it so that PVE players can just turn of PVP now, so the argument that it’s to somehow counter pvp meta is blatantly false.

This is a BAD PRACTICE, just like the tester forums where if you were a patreon your chances were higher.

I think your being biased cuz Vetex supported you. just because other games are reducing the standards of what is a good practice and what is acceptable doesn’t justify Vetex for doing it.

Those games trick kids who don’t know any better and parents who are stupid. Are you sayin that it’s fine for vetex to drop to that kind of level cuz he isn’t doing it that badly?

It’s like saying, “oh, some robber stole million dollar painting so it’s justified that I stole bread from the homeless so I can feed myself”

Also

This equals to magic change btw which is a fucking joke :skull:

Ah yes the most difficult choice “buy silksong, one of the top games of all time” or “buy new magic for Lego game”

I don’t like how you people are using this guise, It’s bad practice and it’s obvious. As much as i want Vetex to be financially stable to keep working on AO. I dislike the fact that you people are having to lie about this instead of being honest.

*you’re

a man in a white shirt has his hands on his ears and his mouth open

This is satire right? I can’t tell

just spend a few hours man, its really not that hard

or just make a new file

I feel like this counter intuitive and you kind of play into it yourself. Don’t you think that if a majority of people are complaining about something then there probably is some sort of issue?
Even if you believe that thought wasn’t put into it, it’s still proof that something is bothering them enough that they complain about it

I don’t think the community feels heard at all, you can’t just tell people to believe they are heard when no action is taken or no proper reason is given for why changes weren’t done for the argument. I do agree that the community isn’t always right but you can’t just leave them in the dark and tell them not to question anything.

I don’t like the way he put it either, but he simply thinks that supporters are blindly defending vetex when few of these are problems that corporate companies would do too, I do feel like This fanbase sometimes defend vetex like he’s nintendo and it does’t help that some of the more popular figures defend his actions too.

6 hours is not some time, especially when it’s done doing an activity that isn’t fun.

This is not immersive.

I understand that you have some reason to think that, but that’s not normal for the majority of people.

if you don’t have the time then either interchange or make a new file.

You won’t run out of files to make, just make alts. Roblox has an account switching feature, use that.

you have alternatives, use them.

But it forces you to do the same activity again and again, and that’s time spent not actually playing the game in a fun way,

Don’t you see how that’s a bad argument? The only alternatives are wasting huge amounts of time or paying. and that isn’t fun.

I still remember shredding every argument justifying the essence in the last ever thread but now the argument is to just accept it rather than the pathetic reasoning. Make sure that berserkers get to have a long set of errands actually training their fighting style before fully being able to change it or just learn it because that (actually does) makes sense in the lore and real world. Make warriors instead of immediate mastery have to slowly get used to their weapons to learn moves like fighting mastery and ignore investment point, and finally make it so that its the same with spirit but to learn a new weapon you have to somehow harness your spirit energy and develop your bond with the god. If anything spirit makes more sense because its just as special if not even MORE intrinsic to the character than magic

Ok gonna respond because I got time and a cat on my lap, prepare for my great wall of text.

While I agree with some of the things said I feel like a lot of what you are saying is disingenuous and it feels more like you’re trying to make Vetex out to be like he’s trying to scam people out of their money. Thus I’m going to tackle your points one by one

I do agree with this. I don’t really think he should’ve made the gamepass in the first place, but he decided to make it just to stop people from yelling for a gamepass. The argument is stupid, but it is the actual reasoning.

This is right!

This is wrong! Firstly, the gamepass doesn’t exist yet and hecate was implemented probably over a year ago, so the second reason is just a flat out lie.

Secondly, it doesn’t really change anything if it were ever made to be for premium payouts because vetex would just get said premium payouts from regular gameplay anyways. The game isn’t entirely made for going around getting hecate essences, it’s just long by proxy of it being in the dark sea. It seems more like a panic decision to put it somewhere hard so magic feels more permanent of a choice.

It was a bad decision, don’t get me wrong, but calling it a scummy practice for those reasons is disingenuous especially when one of those isn’t even a thing yet.

The pvp toggle doesn’t change the argument for this at all, actually. If someone is metamancing and changing their magics at any immediate balancing change, which this argument is meant for, then the toggle doesn’t matter to them since they’re going to be pvping anyways. I don’t know why you said this because it doesn’t even matter to the argument.

It’s a bad decision more than anything, not bad practice. This gamepass was made with spite, not in the idea that vetex is seething at people even talking about wanting magic swapping so he made it specifically like a middle finger to them, but moreso that he decided “fine, here you go, now shut up.” (And even this is more of a harsh exaggeration).

if it were done to be a bad practice I guarantee you there would be WAY more things in this game that would be paying more for something in game. Vetex is one of the stingiest devs when it comes to gamepasses, and he never really wanted to do this gamepass in the first place. IIRC, it was either moochezz or someone else who convinced him on this one, and the price is a bit of his want for magic not having the ability to switch easily bleeding in. This isn’t to say that this makes the gamepass being so high justified, I also think that it was a bad decision. However, calling it a bad practice is misleading considering how vetex is when making gamepasses.

As for the tester forms and patreon, I’m not sure if it really had an effect on tester placements since I didn’t pay that much attention to it, but I think if any biases were to happen in it, it’s 99% more likely it was because of friend biases than money biases. This part, however, isn’t anything I’m going to rag on you about because, as previously mentioned I’m not as knowledgeable about this situation, and it also detracts from the actual argument at hand. If we are to talk about this one more I’d rather turn it into its own discussion on a separate topic.

I don’t think that disregarding his argument because Vetex shouted his game out before really makes your points look any good, because it doesn’t really prove any bias at all.

It’s the same deal with any discourse here where a tester/mod chimes in and anyone who disagrees jumps immediately to say that they’re biased and thus nothing they say matters to this. Bias only really matters if they’re genuinely only jumping in to defend Vetex for being Vetex, which they really aren’t here.

I would agree with this if the types of games we were talking about were actually games and not glorified afk simulators and youtube shorts background footage. The quality of the most popular roblox games has been dropping like a brick and continues to drop so fast that I think there genuinely is a point to be made that this gamepass, both in and out of the context of its existence, is a better decision than 90% of what these games do. And considering that I don’t feel like this was a good decision myself, that should really speak to the quality of those games.

This comparison doesn’t even make sense in general, much less in context.

allowing the pedant in me to speak for a moment, the breakdown of this comparison positions the robber (other game devs) as stealing a million dollar painting (robux from children who stole their parents credit cars) and thus I (vetex) should be able to steal a homeless person’s bread (a different consumer’s money) to be able to eat (pay my American priced rent).

What makes this comparison absurd is that it positions the person buying Vetex’s gamepass as both struggling and being robbed. It importantly leaves out that the target audience for this gamepass is one, not struggling to the aforementioned degree, but is also not being robbed. Someone throwing a good bit of money for a transaction is a lot different from having their only means of living forcibly ripped from them.

Not only that, but the comparisons of what I (vetex) is doing and what the robbers (popular game devs) are doing are so far apart from each other that it makes your argument look more absurd. If they were actually comparable in some sense then maybe it’d be more sensible, but the examples you put aren’t even in the same price range, and it makes your point become lost in the sauce.

Finally, the way you position vetex in this is so absurd. You make him sound like a comedically evil jerk who kicks people when they’re already down, all over him putting a gamepass at an extreme price. It’s beyond being woefully ignorant of any context, and it makes me think that you genuinely view vetex as some Saturday morning cartoon villain.

To summarize the pedantic in me, the comparison doesn’t work as an example because it positions the dupers, the actions they do to dupe, and those who are duped completely differently to reality that it makes it look like isolated absurdity.

While I disagree with Fluect on the gamepass’s creation being spiteful, he (and others) aren’t going about this in the way you act like they are. They aren’t lying to save vetex from looking like a bad actor, they just don’t agree on it being spiteful and think that it was done in compliance with Vetex’s vision on magic.

I might respond to your other comments later, but I have band soob so I might be too tired to respond to the rest and these messages go over the main gist of your argument anyways.

I want to end this by saying that I don’t think your concerns are wrong on a base level nor worthless to think about. It is completely fine to be concerned about money gouging features in a game especially on a platform like roblox; however, the way you go about this is not only ignores most of the context around its creation and reasoning, but it also poses vetex in such an absurd way. It treats him as being this cartoonish and conniving evil person stealing money from people for just being stubborn and pricing his gamepass high due to his vision for his game.

Yes, it was a bad decision, but you blow it out of proportion to the point that it makes you look like you’re isolated from the reality of the situation.

Anyways, I’m going to conclude the unproductive use of my hour arguing on the internet by eating and then going to band practice.
