Magic Elementals (Open Art Collab)

Well, considerin’ natural, terrestrial plasma is found in auroras (which is named after the Roman Goddess Aurora), perhaps the Plasma elemental could be a pegasus - which is what Aurora was frequently depicted riding

I don’t know if that’s actually the way you speak or just a persona, but I like it (also I added it :+1:)

Which should I do? Ik some magics are hard to read from screenshots so I might copy + paste the list instead

Maybe Darkness/Death Magics (the Lost/Primordial Magic types) could have something like a Lovecraftian Horror as an elemental, due to the “Evil” nature of these creatures

rawr tentacles

This is only for base magics (idk if I’ll do any of the Lost/Prims given how they’re more conceptual than elemental). Plus the Lovecraftian horror would probably outshine (and kill) all the other elementals, which are meant to be naturally-occuring representatives of their elements. Also squid-tentacle monster seems to be most popular for Ink T_T

But I appreciate the suggestion

so… ink elemental isnt the kraken? (not from AA the actual kraken) and just drops a giant puddle of ink that would just be funny (yes i read it ik squid and oct is probably a kraken idk my lore stuffs)

I read the first two and thought “World of Bugs”

However, I love Pokémon and you ideas are good. I was thinking of beetles but decided I didn’t knew where to put them.

About paper, since giant insects are used for other magics, how about a huge cicada?
They are a staple in origami and look pretty interesting on their own.

Something like this, just big.

For magma, dragon sounds pretty fitting, but I thought it shouldn’t be just any fire breathing dragon but more of a bedrock-skinned black dragon with cracks between scales where magna flows. Kinda like Deathwing over here:

That’s it, my 2 cents.

I already have a dragon design planned for Magma and it’s actually pretty close to that!

Anyway, I’m out of edits for the next 17 hours or so, but I’ve fixed some things and changed Ice’s elemental to an Akh’lut!

Cool, the Akh’lut looks amazing based on the one Google search I just did.

Updates until I can edit the main post

ART BRAINSTORMING! THIS IS NOT A SUGGESTION OR PLANNED FEATURE!

Suggestions for base magic elementals? Preferably mythical and non-human (no mermaids, gods, or other humanoids), but can also be cryptids if they’re not too human-like. There are already a lot of dragonoids (dragon types like Wyverns, Drakes, etc.) so please refrain from those if you can! Think more like a creature that inhabits the environment and is most in-tune with the element and not the embodiment of it (ex. An arboreal creature for Wood instead of an ent. Or a ground-dwelling animal instead of an Earth golem).

Elemental Explanations
Poison Magic - Basilisk

The Basilisk is born of a rooster’s egg incubated by a snake or toad. Often reveled as the “King of Snakes,” the Basilisk has a plumage of feathers much like a crown and a venom deserving of the name granted to the giant serpent. It is sometimes said that the venom can kill simply by being too near to it. Along with this great toxin, the Basilisk also holds a mighty gaze capable of killing any who meet its eye save for the weasel. To kill a Basilisk it is said that the cry of a rooster will eliminate it instantly, but the only sure-fire way to kill it is by meeting the eyes of its own reflection.

Basilisks were also possibly involved in Alchemy in the conversion of copper to “Spanish gold” through the combination of Basilisk blood, powdered human blood, red copper, and a special kind of vinegar. Similarly, it was thought that Basilisk ashes could turn silver to gold.

The Basilisk and Cockatrice have much in common with one another in their killer gaze and methods of incubation, as well as weakness for weasels. However, the Basilisk is a highly venomous king of snakes said to be able to leave trails of its own venom behind that can kill a man simply by being too near it while the Cockatrice can fly and breathe fire. It is for these similarities and differences that the Ash elemental is a Cockatrice and Poison the Basilisk. The two share extremely similar properties and abilities, but have diverged to their own ways. The Basilisk a highly toxic and venomous king of snakes. The Cockatrice a fire-breathing chimera capable of petrifying onlookers with its gaze. Fitting for two similar magics: one toxic and the other heat-based.

Ash Magic - Cockatrice

Laid by a rooster and incubated by a toad (or snake), the Cockatrice is able to petrify anything that meets its eyes except for that of a weasel. They are also able to fly and breathe fire. A Cockatrice can also kill by touching or even breathing on something.

The Cockatrice is often depicted as a rooster or other bird with a snake’s tail and either feathered or webbed wings. The only way to kill a Cockatrice are to have it meet its own eyes through a mirror; however it is also said that the crow of a rooster would kill it instantly.

I’m open to collaboration but I hope to

I’ll be down to collab

Cool! Nothing’s set in stone (excepts Ash and Poison) as of yet and I really would like to do Basilisk and Cockatrice myself, but if there’s anything in particular that interests you let me know

Earth tortoise I can for sure do and have fun with. Wood I could also do.

what would glass be?

Cool, those ones are pretty much decided (and Wood’s are both very similar), so I’ll leave those up to you until I feel like doing them as well! Please make sure to credit the people who gave the ideas tho ^-^

Rn Glass’ only thing is a butterfly, but I’m open to others
