Why in such a hurry to buy a caravel/ketch anyways??
They need to accept that it’s okay that you sold off all your relics for 75 galleons for a ship that’s now such a commodity
A lot actually, cuz 75 galleons was a somewhat decent amount to get from selling an item back then. Remember that this is back when there were no crafted gems, reagents and other items you could sell for good amounts of galleons.
If said unob items had 1 purpose and that was to sell them, then why are you blaming people for selling them???
Nope! Didn’t sell one of them!
Because I never had any to begin with!
I think it makes a lot of sense for people to feel blindsided by the change made to magius relics.
For months/years before AO released, we were assured that boss drops would be replaced with a form of compensation that was of equal or greater value to the boss drops they were replacing. (Even though the truth of this is debatable, as magius relics had both less monetary and utility value than WoM boss drops). Until shortly before AO’s release, nothin was known about the compensation other than the emphasis placed on its value.
When it became known that they would be icons that were untradable and had no purpose other than selling for 75 galleons each, it made a lot of sense to sell them; especially during the early game before AO had received any updates, since grinding for money was much more of a task than it is now. It was clear that the relics would only be good for selling, so people used them for their only purpose.
Yes, people held onto them for things like sentimental value and as a reminder of WoM, however for most people you only needed to own as few as single relic for that purpose; after that, the duplicates were useless in every way other than monetary and were reasonably sold.
I’m not saying that I think them becoming seasonals is a bad thing, but I think it’s justifiable for people to feel negatively towards the fact something that was established as having no value is suddenly ascribed as much value as some of AO’s rarest items.
You would not be able to keep it anyway. There was no character slots gamepass, no way to change your magics and almost no way to change your stat build. Many people re-created their characters during those times, so the only circumstance when you was capable of keeping them is having them on your alt account.
If the promise was fulfilled, and they were converted into rare items, then people would still be mad because they already sold it off for a quick buck.
- Vetex and tech promise equal or greater compensation
- People stock up on boss drops in anticipation
- Compensation is announced to be shit and meant to be a small boost to early game progression
- People use it for its only gameplay purpose
And now you 3 are confused that people actually used them for their only gameplay purpose? I really dont get this thinking process
I feel like it wasn’t a purpose, but rather a choice for you to make.
No I’m not Nuclearman7_anacondapyramid
There’s no confusion, don’t lie to try to win an argument. If they chose to sell an unobtainable item, whether or not that’s the only practical use for the item, that’s on them.
…
I wouldn’t say it’s entirely on them. It’s only on people who actually knew that it was unobtainable after then.
Not everybody who had one would have known.
Sure it was a choice, but the choice was between its purpose and emotional attachment. Surely you must understand that most people would choose the former rather than the latter?
How is that on them when there was 0 indication (for more than 2 YEARS even) of said untradeable item EVER becoming tradeable. This is like saying its our fault for listening to vetex/tech. Youre actively making dumber and dumber arguments
That’s just it, it wasn’t a purpose.
You CHOOSE to sell it depending on how much you value it.
Honestly, I think you’re coping.
Huge nothing rant ongoing…
??? How is it not its purpose when thats literally the only thing you can do with it? Unless you consider doing nothing as doing something (which seems like some weird logic to me)
are you a goofierball there was literally no other thing to do other than selling it, it was quite obviously designed for it
I mean, I can sell a reward trophy in real life, that doesn’t mean that it’s meant to be sold.
