Spirit Water (Yes, it’s based on Avatar)

Special ability: This Magic functions similarly to Strength Weapons. It can only be learned by Paladins and Savants, and splits its costs for learning spells between Vitality and Magic. It functions like normal Water magic when used against your enemies, but allies and members of your party soaked in the water will heal Y(Your level) + (.1 x (Magic Stat + Vitality Stat)) every second. In addition, if you use a Lightning-based imbue on this, not only will it have the usual Water + Lightning synergy against enemies, it will also apply a slight speed and attack speed buff to your allies(There could prolly be more imbue synergy support effects I could list here but since Paladins don’t get second Magic anymore and Savants can’t imbue at all(yet) I’m just basing it off of what’s currently available). [-20 MP]

Mostly I just want hybrid builds to have more going for them. Imbues are cool, and really expand your toolkit, but having s’more hybrid exclusive stuff, like Strength Weapons(which are severely neglected right now), would be nice. Also I thought it’d be cool to make something that synergizes with our currently confirmed Spirit Weapon’s effects.

Oil magic

Black, ink-like liquid magic in appearance.

Status effect: Oily
Impairs vision slightly, synergises with all heat based magics and attacks to some degree, except for scalded. All heat based attacks on the target will set them on fire for a duration. Once ignited, this fire cannot be put out by any means until the duration naturally expires.
Leaves puddles similar to all liquid magic that can be ignited using heat based magics, and will burn for a limited duration.

Comes in colour variations including basic black oil, ranging into a more translucent brown, to a nearly transparent yellow of lighter oils.

[Railgun Magic (metal x lightning)]

Description: Conjure and propel supersonic bullets with the power of physics. Your character holds their arms out and conjures 2 metal plates covering their arms and a 3rd metal bullet. Then a powerful current is applied to the circuit which rapidly accelerates the bullet.

Colours: All of Metal’s and Lightning’s variations combined

Power: 0.8x (base) 70mp
Speed: 0.8x (startup) 35mp
Size: 0.6x 25mp
Destruction: 1.4x 0mp

Special abilities:

  • Railgun magic’s speed and power is heavily dependent on how long you charge attacks. low charge/uncharged attacks are slow and weak
  • A fully charged railgun’s power is increased up to 1.4x (20mp)
  • Full charge increases projectile speed up to 2x (20mp)
  • Can pierce destructibles and entities at 70% charge and above (20mp)

Total MP = 190

Sounds super OP for sniping targets, OP (poster) should’ve probably added a limit to synergy potency

Insanity Magic

Color: Dark-purple
Power 0.6 x 50MP
Size 1.4 x 65MP
Speed 1.4 x 65MP

Special abilities: Insanity status effect, can stack (15 second duration), although stacking doesnt refresh the timer. any terrain hit with this will turn into cursed terrain, any entity that is standing on or above (lets say double the width of the cursed terrain, in height will be the ‘box’ where the player gets affected) will gain 1 stack of insanity, get their movespeed and stamina regen reduced and passively drains their energy, oh and it gets rid of your passive energy gain. 40 MP

yes, this also applies to npc’s

insanity gained through this magic is fatal, but theres an interval between gaining stacks (0.3 seconds?) so people wont spam 20 blasts to get you to insanity 5

Ultimate Art: Crunch

Eclipse Magic: Aether and Darkness mutation, that causes the enemy’s vision to turn black, only highlighting enemies and players (lowk a practical use in some cases), but the effect turns everything else black, making it way harder to navigate and jump around. The effect lasts for 1.5 seconds. The look of the element is a black flame with a pale yellow outline.

Nobody has posted here in a while, but I believe I cooked a very unique, cool, and not confusing magic. @Zormego had a very similar concept.

[Starcross Magic]
"Conjure highly unstable pure magic energy born from the cosmos.”

Description: A highly unstable, dark purple/light blue (similar to the colors of spirit energy imbued to weapons and fighting styles) ancient magic with white particles of constellations.

Power: 0.85x 75 mp
Size: 1x 45mp
Speed: 1.3x 60mp

Special Ability: Star-Crossed (20 MP)
Every attack from Starcross Magic inflicts Star-Crossed. However, upon hitting a consecutive Starcross magic attack in a 2 second window, the damage of the second attack would be multiplied by 1.25-1.4, this amplified attack will be called “Forsaked”. But, upon hitting “Forsaked”, the user would be scorched and receive DoT. Lastly, Starcrossed will be on cooldown when “Forsaked” is applied.

The horrible wires are supposed to be in the form of constellations, so see it as two constellations crossing each other. Also, the color used is supposed to give a good idea on what color Starcross magic would be.

Explanation: I was genuinely losing it while trying to put into words how this magic can exist in the AO universe. I want to explain this because at first glance, this magic seems a bit of stretch especially when considering other magics. Anyways, I am gonna try to explain how I think this magic can coincide with the AO universe while not coming off as nonsensical
All magics come from one source, chaos energy. This chaos energy is spread across the universe and in this case, stars crossing is a manifestation of chaos in outer space. Astronomers, now mages due to Prometheus’s gift, notices stars crossing is a manifestation of chaos and that when stars cross they bring chaos to the world causing death and bad events. Astronomers also notice that if powerful enough, they could conjure this unstable magic and put it into their arsenal.
Additional information: Stars crossing symbolizes an ill-fated omen. Also, there were astronomers in the Greek times.

Magic Idea: [Death Lightning Magic]

“Conjure the power of an undead lightning dragon, capable of bringing instantaneous death if the blight it inflicts progresses too far.”

Desc: A gold and black lightning magic that also has a blue-ish orb effect (like the Eagle Patrimony imbue). This is an Imbue only magic, and is very strong as an ancient magic.

Power: 0.7x (60 MP)
Size: 0.9x (40 MP)
Speed: 1.2x (60 MP)

Special Effects: Death Blight, Incantationery. (40 MP)
Death Blight: This debuff is different from others, in the fact that it builds as a Bar on the screen, similar to Thermofist Heat. When it reaches max, Players and weaker NPCs are instantly killed. The amount of buildup needed for this scales with Max HP and Defense, and increasing Vitality makes it build up slower (with any Vit build that isn’t savant, it builds up half as fast, and having any amount of vit makes it build up at a rate of 1.5x damage dealt instead of 2x damage dealt) and also grants extra resistance to it (Vit increases max HP, increasing the buildup requirement for Death Blight). It builds up by dealing damage with the magic, increasing buildup by approximately 2x damage dealt. As a result, the magic has low base damage. This magic cannot oneshot miniboss or boss NPCs, instead dealing 15% of the boss/miniboss’ max hp, and inflicting a DOT that does 2x attack damage.
Incantationery: Certain attacks act differently. Slam attacks (like Smash, Devastate, etc) cast a large, gold and black stake before slamming it into the ground, releasing a damaging shockwave. Flash Strike causes the player to swing a large gold and black Glaive, in a move similar to single hit selino. This releases a slash of electricity.

All attacks from this magic release Death Blight clouds that do zero damage, but inflict blight buildup proportional to 1% enemy max hp. This is not special, because Death Magic, for all we know, could do the same thing.

Total MP: 200

For those who don’t know, this is a reference to Elden Ring, and in particular, Lichdragon Fortissax, a boss that uses a spell called Death Lightning, which inflicts a debuff called Death Blight, which can one shot you. Its also an imbue magic, being exclusive to Lightning and Death Magic imbues (Lightning on Death attack or Death on Lightning attack.)
