permafrost magic could be a good candidate for a cold ancient magic
that’s only because the water is below your body temperature to begin with
i can assure you if boiling water was poured on you you would not get colder even though the water is evaporating on you
yeah ur right i’m making another thread for this water magic stuff
yeah, but what would its special gimmick be?
water magic is most likely room temperature, so it can do this
water magic is not boiling hot
dead revival is more of a forbidden magic that was lost on purpose
its not a power anyone is supposed to have.
necromancy fits an ancient magic so well tho
Icestorm magic
all attacks leave behind a cloud of swirling ice and freezing fog, dealing damage and applying stacks of frost madness
frost madness: stacks up to 20. lasts for 5 seconds. each stack causes a visual fog effect which comes closer and becomes more dense with more stacks. Within this fog, the afflicted will occasionally see clones of the person who’s using icestorm magic, with visions becoming more frequent and vivid the higher stacks the player has. at 10+ stacks, the clones will also start charging up their energy and froststorm magic circles. if the player reaches the maximum amount of stacks, they will temporarily lose control over their character, and it will dash around on its own for 3 seconds. after this, all stacks are removed.
special ability: freezing fog
create a massive magic circle above your character and charge it up for a few seconds. after it has finished charging, unleash a massive tornado of tiny ice shards, dealing higher damage over time compared to the usual clouds produced, and applying frost madness
void magic
it’s magic related to nothing… as in the absence of anything
size: high
damage: mid
speed: very low
visuals: pure black tendril-like effects
gimmicks could be
- outclashing every attack (sounds op could have some kind of drawback or lower stats to compensate)
- draining mana and stamina
- blindness effect
- maybe a silence status that prevents the enemy from casting spells temporarily (also pretty strong, should be behind a difficult condition to activate or behind the ult art with a really long cooldown)
- it could also lower your temperature ig lol
not all of them that would be wild
I mean, if you think lore-wise it makes more sense that the majority of magics would be heat-based. We’re told most magics were made during the Golden Age of Magic, which was 100 AD - 337 AD.
People during the time didn’t know what tf Dark Matter was. Hell, the guy who gave humanity magic used fire. Plus, with so much warfare, what would you rather have? Some variation of cold water or lightning thats actually fire?
Fire is naturally more attractive to people, it’s our first ever achievement.
I’ll destroy you Winterveili Demons before you can spread this heresy.
is that a hollow knight reference?
i don’t play hollow knight
Shatterfrost…
temperature shock could be a good one
errrr isn’t frostmetal cold themed
I made 2 magics because I was bored, only pay attention to the first
Ancient Magic: Ice Cream Magic
Damage: Determinant
Speed: Determinant
Size: Determinant
Lore: a kid went to a powerful mage and wished for an unlimited supply of ice cream. But they were being pillaged by raiders at the same time so it had to be strong enough to deal damage. The raiders all died of heart attacks of the amount of sugar they consumed. In reality it was a mythical demon magic disguised as ice cream to throw enemies off.
Effects: The magic has unique charging aside from the rest of the magic. Power is completely tied to how long it can charge, going from low to extremely high damage rivaling metal and charging takes like 6 seconds for just a basic uncharged hit. When it comes to size and speed it’s way different, Uncharged attacks have the biggest size but lowest speed, the size explosions leaving multiple mud like puddles that inflict headache status effects for about 1:30 seconds. Then the charged ones have the lowest size but fastest speed to the point where it can ricochet off walls, direct hit inflicts Love but only for 20 seconds. Attacks are also given move staling from smash, using the same move deals less and less damage but gives them heal block.
Inflicting Headache, heal block, and love binds them in place by a demonic entity which opens a door and slowly drags them to hell. Afterwards the door is closed and sinks into the ground and you get to keep the players dead skin as a memento, wearing the skin means you can wear whatever outfit they are currently using forever (Legendary tier outfit) it’s like a grab so you can’t get killed during it.
Game plan: The magic has to inflict status effects and take advantage of its weaknesses to kill opponents or activate an instant win condition.
Arcanium: armor has a decent amount of Resistance, Size, Speed, and Intensity (wanted it to have a unique appearance but I don’t feel like it)
Clashes: is beat out by most hot magics and some cold magics. Is beat out by everything else
Passive: User has a inherent buff to all their stats but has a damage vulnerability, stacks with that dark sea dragon bathing thing
(This is so broken but this means that someone has the ice cream curse out there)
I made this bottom one for fun ignore it
gluttony magic part 2
Damage: mid
Size: High
Speed: Bad
DOT: extremely High
User shoots out locusts from their mouth that eat everything in its sight, they auto home in slowly on any living being of thing the user aims at. The magic has inherent and punishing drawback unless the magic is eating something.
Whatever they eat is brought to the user’s
inventory making it good for farming
The user can sacrifice items to take on different properties and advanced positive status effects of whatever they ate. Like potions, food, other players, whatever.
The user’s hunger bar is shot way up to 300 and they starve faster.
Upon PvP killing of another player, you can get a severed head of the poor guy and use it as a sustenance to gain their magic and stats.
Your base insanity is increased.
The magic will eat something of value upon PvP death. It’ll pull up some small screen like OSRS deaths and you can choose what the magic will eat (you get to keep the very expensive stuff). If nothing is sacrificed you will get heavily nerfed for 2 hours as punishment.
tides id assume
Is there a difference between lost and ancient magic?
ancient magics are rarer and presumably more powerful
