You didn’t miss out on much. It’s just a bunch of action and an unoriginal plot. The VFX are also exactly what you expect. They completely gave up on characterizing Thanos. Honestly, the original Avengers movie is the only good one in the series.
The Marvel TV shows are where it’s at.

I think they liked it because it wrapped up all of the characters’ arcs at the same time. It definitely felt like a conclusion to a grand saga. I guess it does a good job at that. But, as a singular movie, it has very few merits.
well it is apart of a series, you wouldn’t watch the 72nd episode of a show without watching the first 71. it wouldn’t make much sense and wouldn’t be very entertaining (unless of course its comedy)

I have watched most of the earlier marvel films and I still found it pretty boring. Flat villain, boring plot, meaningless action. The only thing it has going for it is that it wraps up some major character arcs.

Yes, and Hulk was closer to the right level, but still lacked a couple.
