Someone suggested this in one of my previous suggestions so sure why not
Lost scroll - Choke
‘Leap forward using a magic circle, and grab your opponent by the neck, encasing your hand in magic energy to rapidly damage them, While crashing down into the floor.’
This kind of just works like rushdown but with a “fuck you. get OUT OF THE AIR!!!” as well.
Basically just: ‘Leap at cursor > Hit target > Do a bunch of damage while also falling to crash into the floor’
It’s also inspired by Architect Kalliste’s lore tidbit of “He likes grabbing people by the neck to crush their windpipe and melt their neck off”, why can’t WE do that?
And also inspired by viltrumites because yeah why not
I feel like this is a good addition because it’d not only look cool as shit but also adds another aerial shutdown move to mages that isn’t just pillar explosions, and hence hopefully make my intention of unique playstyles that aren’t just “press T and/or leap a bunch before attacking” come to fruition
giving mage a grab equal to rushdown/tiger rush (or literally any other grab in the game since they’re all copy pasted) would be stupid since they are the class that’s meant to stay far away and pelt whoever they’re fighting with spells
this doesn’t mean they cannot do CQC, it just means they’ll be outclassed by other classes who are actually designed to do good in CQC (at least for the most part)
if you want to use magic and still have a good grab, you can play literally any magic hybrid build
All due respect everyone agrees snare has a shit hitbox and does little to nothing compared to every other spell
Please try to take into consideration this would also add another anti air because we only really have pillar explosions and maybe annihilation
Also this is a lost spell
It’s meant to be rarer
Rushdown, tiger rush, etc are far easier to get and use and this would also reduce the amount of things you could quote unquote “pelt people from afar” to begin with
Also, who’s saying this wouldn’t leave them outclassed? this could be punished with several melee options or even another mage if you aren’t out of there after grabbing fast enough, and if you miss god knows how open you’d be
Also it literally makes you GO TOWARDS your enemy as a ranged class to begin with so if anything it makes using it a little more difficult??
the reason why snare hitbox sucks its bc vetex didnt fix the attack size scaling YET! IT HAS BEEN ALREADY 3 STUPID YEARS, THE ONLY WAY TO GET MORE AOE IS WITH TIERS!!! AND TIERS FUCKING SUCKS!!!
ye basically light snare has the same aoe than explosion snare I HATE THIS GAME
Okay, fight jarl ivar’s first phase again and get back to me
“Kalliste is a warlock so he”
Okay, allanon, choke this guy’s entire health out
Anyways the ranged grab would be harder to do anything creative with
I chose the physical grab because not only to you get to choke someone out allanon style, but also the anti air part is you throwing the opponent off and slamming both you and them into the ground
As for what counts as anti air from other classes:
Colossal cleave
Storm/Rain of arrows
Spirit Rain
Torrent.
Uppercut is literally the entire basis of anti air
Retaliate
That’s only naming six of them
Yes ranged grabs exist but that would be leagues more boring than giving some poor warlord the “MAYBE THIS TIME YOU’LL LEARN..” treatment
And it’s not like this is something that would be complex to learn in lore either it’s just:
“hey so basically jump at a guy right, you know how to do that, you have Leap, okay now just grab him by the fucking neck, like straight up, then you cover your hand in magic energy right, you know this one, it’s in Aura Arms, okay now you just fry their windpipe with the light of allah while letting you and the idiot fall and use the aforementioned idiot to cushion your fall - John Chowcslam”
uppercut is NOT anti air, pulsar exists, spirit rain isnt good anti air, it hits more when people are on the ground, and retaliate doesnt auto aim, its just worse axe slash which is just blast basically
and why would a close ranged grab be good anti air at all?
