I think that we will need some scary encounters at sea so we have a reason to have canons. A giant shark is the only answer. This shark would be a boss and would drop a decent amount of cargo and its eyes that grants agility and defence. (They also glow white) The eyes would be powerful. (For its level) this fight shouldn’t be easy and the shark will tear through the players ship. Ship weapons work best on this massive beast.
The eyes’ defence would be a little worse than the defence amulet. The agility on it would be better than the agility amulet.
Now other than this why would people go into sea? People can fish and farm chest on shore this will push people onto the sea and make them use their ships.
Although this isn’t confirmed, I am fairly sure white eyes, which are giant sharks, are planned. There is a building, presumably a tavern or something, called the red fin.

He was a rare shark in AA so you had to be pretty lucky to encounter him. I did a few times but I always managed to get to land or on a boat before he managed to snack on me.
Lol, Alpha White Eyes was pretty impossible to kill, even if there were a ton of people attacking it. I think there’s a video of multiple people fighting White Eyes on YT
