Except the boss was the only working employee until a few months ago. Now that he’s got a bit of a group, hopefully he can make better updates. I wasn’t excusing Vetex for poor updates, I was pointing out that he didn’t have as much help back then, so the updates are gonna be worse. Hopefully full release will be better.
How is Arcane Odyssey not an “actually” good game?

- Replayability
1.1 Not much to do about this, it’s a false-pillar and a red herring. Vetex is obsessed with it but doesn’t understand how it can be composed. - Character variety
2.1 Great variety of available classes, stat builds, and armour builds
2.2 Despite the amount of things that one can explore, customisation is heavily discouraged despite the opposite (creation) being discouraged as well - Story-driven
3.1 The story is branchless, linear, and not fun to interact with. Your choices only serve to change the following dialogue and don’t feel as if you’re a part of it - Immersive
4.1 This one is akin to replayability, though the closest thing to it would be ‘player interactivity’, something that AO greatly lacks aside from one thing…
4.2 Attack destruction allows players to directly interact with the environment, the fact that their actions and choices aren’t ignored by the program makes them feel satisfied and increases immersion
4.3 Dirt and tanning aren’t up to the player’s choices and are often detrimental due to how much they change the textures, and by extension, the beauty and appearance of the player character
4.4 The bounty/contract board working the way it does is a nice detail that doesn’t conflict with the world and allows it to be more immersive despite its meta nature
4.5 Renown mechanics could be seen as immersive to some, but most of the time, they break the flow of your gameplay and interrupt you. What’s immersive about not being able to do what you want because you’re a good guy (for now)? What’s immersive about being interrupted by the navy the moment you aren’t on a completely empty island?
This one is by far the most debateable since the amount of mechanics it has can’t be summarised very well.

I’m tired right now and I probably missed some pillars because I’m not in Vetex’s head, nor am I a god at game design. I only watched and read about ~30+ hours of excellent medias regarding this subject and sometimes I feel like that alone is enough to put me above so many others (specifically, devtubers, god do I despise these fools) despite it really ranging from common sense to philosophy, psychology, and general design methods. Please help me, I really can’t take having to explain so many simple things to so many different people anymore.

also, I get most people don’t like doing this, but you can still make new files without the new starter pack and try magics. I do this (but you guys think this game has bad replayability so whatever)

I think that the statement is kind of, weird, if not dumb, because it completely contradicts the idea of making a gamepass, you intend for it to be bought, if it wasn’t that then you simply don’t make it, but oh well we can’t read Vetex’s mind.
