The Eagle Patrimony— the one item in game that isn’t Renewable… whilst some issues regarding its unobtainable status have been resolved (namely its default rites renew-ability)- it still leaves a small problem:

“Weapon Stacking” (i forgot the actual name).

For those unaware / explaining the thing

Reminders for AO (Part 4) - #3834 by Hydrauchroma

Upon full release, Weapons/Spirit-weps will be able to be equipped 2 times. Using multiple of the same weapon prevents the person from needing to switch hands- and works well if you need a single weapons stats on several skills.

It was explained to need two of the same weapon (not type, the exact same weapon), and doing such create two inventory items that could have their own exclusive features, notably skills.

For example: two SSwords could be equipped at once; so that the person may have its stats and soak application on more skills; This would still have two hotbar items for their 5 skills, but it’d let the person use 10 skills on the “same” item.

Patrimony is exclusively left out on such benefits since you cannot obtain 2 of them. This is pretty bad, and imo, even worse for spirit weapons since they all have a synergy; alongside if you need only 1/2 synergies, it’d let you equip more standard rites without sacrificing your Unique ones.

Given the situation, a simple fix is needed, a way to obtain more patrimonies. I impose a simple idea:

  • Whenever the player is struck by lightning on Dawn Island, they are given an extra patrimony. Complete with its set of default rites; and obviously its unique ones.

This gives a simple, and probably easy to remember way of getting more of the item— this also isn’t the only way this needs to be done… but we do need some form of allowing the Patrimony to use the Weapon stacking feature.

There may need to be some fixes and tweaks to account for this (such as the player clogging their inventory with patrimonies), but it would fix the biggest issue and replace them with small tweaks.

I really, really don’t think it makes any sense whatsoever that you can get an ancient weapon blessed by the long deceased god of skies by getting struck with some electric charge
A way to get more patrimonies would be favorable, but this is not it
Maybe if you could search for temples of gods in the Dark Sea and, if you find one, you can duplicate their corresponding spirit weapon, maybe it would be exclusive to Zeus and Patrimony

yeah- thats kinda what i said— any way to duplicate it would work.

I just don’t think its something that needs to be very difficult- why go through the dark seas and the temple of ancient gods… for a weapon you get at the start of the game?

This only needs to solve for The Patrimony- said temple you suggested would be useless for every other weapon because you can already obtain multiple by farming their bosses. Such an idea would work for later game items; but for now, would be the equivalent of requiring the Epicenter to get another rusty dagger.

A rusty dagger doesn’t have any unique skills. Patrimony may be obtained at the start of the game, but that doesn’t change what it is. Besides, it will definitely have story importance later on, so farmability is already a big ask. The temples would at least let it make some sense story-wise.

yeah but again- you can see what I mean. Its a common weapon, one with no actual power to it yet, meaning in its current state, it should be farmable.

Besides, if it does come with a later, stronger form, then just have a separate process for making an old patrimony better, not haphazardly limit the possible weak patrimonies for something far later.

And again- these are all weapons from the gods, yet only one of them isn’t farmable. Like, Poseidon is also one of the strongest and most important gods in AO, yet one of his spirit weapons is farmable from some low-life thug.

Also those temples could imply so disastrous things for the lore- god knows how many people would ask why they can’t just make more temples; and by extension more spirit weapons.

You still cant equip two of the same weapon i do not see your point here

No.

You literally can :sob:

(Rite/Skill tome showcase, two Kai sabres).

(the patchnote where this was added/stated)

and as far as i’ve seen, its only been implied to work when you use two of the same weapon; IE, you’d need to have two patrimonies to do this.

Even if you could, what’s the point? All generic rites are compatible with every single Spirit Weapon, so it’s not like you’d be missing out on any potential abilities.

You lose the ability to only use the patrimonies electric affinity???

What if i WANT all my rites to use the patrimonies stat distribution and affinity for everything… like you can for every other weapon / SpiritWep :sob:

you don’t need it

depends on how much the patrimony is outclassed by the new spirit weapons

I don’t think that matters too much for this, nor that the Patrimony will be outclassed much; all Spirit weapons are the same Tier and Rarity (blue/T1)

And assuming they all have different stat distributions, patrimony comes with a perfect 1/1/1, which could be cool for an item that people can use for Imbuing.

and even if you run Oracle and can’t imbue with it, base stats could be pretty good considering Spirit weapons can also be enchanted.

Also might be pretty good for Paladin as they might want to prioritize a spirit weapon they synergize with; for example Water Paladin could use 2 patrimonies because no other Spirit weapon has a Synergy they can utilize.

i don’t get why u guys are so quick to dismiss this idea

vetex is not going to add this, first it breaks the hidden lore behind eagle patrimony, second, breaks the lore behind spirit weapons and third that doesnt make sense

and why you need 10 slots for eagle patrimony anyway :wilted_flower:

I’ve explained why this was useful multiple times already :sob:

It’s useful for the same reason its useful on every other weapon: no weapon swapping; & multiple of the same stats/synergies.

As for lore implications, i think this is a case Vetex would ignore, it doesn’t add anything extra to the patrimony aside from what was already there (still from Zeus, still limited to just the player, it could still be special or have its later function be added without breaking lore)— and as I’ve already stated at the bottom, this could easily be adjusted to not add too many complications to the lore, its just that have a solution is required for a suggestion, and I’ve given an example of how difficult I think it should be to get an extra patrimony for player use

I don’t even know how the ratings were justified :sob:

It’s not like this is even that big of a feature, i just wanted to remind people of weapon stacking and how there is one outlier that could be quite annoying.

Everybody else seems so self-centered on themselves not wanting to use more than one patrimony without considering how that could change in the future or how it just lets others do it for themselves without harming anybody else.

literally the only reason i’m seeing people vote so low is “this doesn’t make lore sense”
sure
while we’re add it let’s make every story and side boss like calvus and evander never respawn once you kill them the first time cus it doesn’t make sense in lore
want multiple of the same drops? too bad

yeah could be cool if the reason was remade so it made sense

plus i dont see new players being able to figure this out without consulting a wiki

Pretty much my only issue with the current way i suggested, but i couldn’t come up with anything I was super proud of.

My main focuses were tailored to new people because thats who it benefits most: as its a good way to teach them weapon stacking + it lets them use the rites they’ll find from chests and such. But unless we added a giant sign to Dawn Island stating such, i don’t think it’ll be too possible to keep convenient

My only idea which i though was kinda mid- was giving Dawn island a secret, which would be triggered once you get the Patrimony from lightning; maybe a certain spot could have a guarantee lightning strike every so often so its not too annoying to farm.
