Got some time to get ingame and I heard someone fishing nearby Al Jahili, sad to see that he was macrofishing in my secret spot. I don’t mean to hate or anything, just disappointed that the secret I shared was used to macrofish.
I know that someone saw my post in the past or perhaps a friend shared it to them since no one knew of the spot ever since Nimbus Sea got released, so I kindly ask that you don’t macrofish here .
Don’t harass the guy or anything, macrofishing aint that deep nor worth doing so on someone. Just be disappointed and move on, he’s already about to get temp-banned.
I like fishing as is, it’s relaxing to me, and I can just sit and talk to people. I think having that option of a small low intensity mini-game is good for the game as a whole.
It doesn’t have to be too much activity, just a simple event every now and then. Could be somehow fishing up a castaway or an anglerfish jumpscare etc. just anything to prevent a mind-numbing experience
Not only is fishing boring but the rewards are boring as well so at the very least it could have events tied to it.
You can still macrofish iirc, only afk macrofishing is bannable since that gives an advantage where you can still keep fishing when you aren’t in front of your screen.
Asking players to sit infront of their computer for a macro to keep going is still too much.
The reason people macro is to skip the Sol’s RNG “gameplay” of endlessly clicking and do literally anything else.
Using a macro and then just sitting infront of your computer is entirely counterproductive.
You still need to actively pay just as much attention to players to respond to them so they don’t think you’re afk macroing. It does nothing to fix any of the problems with fishing even on a personal level.
Yeah I can agree with that ngl, the only problem why macrofishing is controversial is because sunken items are tied to it. People hate the idea of getting powerful items with no work behind it, especially vetex.
It’s the reason why leg scales are made to not affect legendary fish chances to prevent infinite leg scales/sunken items and luck is being reworked to not be too powerful. So I guess the only fix is to make fishing somewhat fun to make the process worth it. Though I guess the problem would be how to make fishing fun while also requiring little activity.
Fishing needs two changes to justify anti-macro rule (and justify it existing as a mechanic).
1: It needs actual gameplay, minigames, preferably a variety of them. Entire good games have been built on fishing minigames, you cannot tell me fishing can’t be made fun.
2: It needs a lot of the RNG cut out. It doesn’t matter how good the fishing gameplay is if you get nothing out of it. There needs to be consistent methods to finding whatever it is you’re looking for in the waters.
Down with Arcane RNG “gameplay” being the thing that locks so many people out of luck potions, sunkens, and more.
The only problem with the first one right now is that Vetex view fishing as a “brain turned off” mechanic, or something like that according to one of his messages. So unless Vetex changes his mind on it, I doubt we’ll get any good updates on fishing
The second one is actually possible with the use of fishing rods, rather than being based on chance on the overall loot table, it should immediately lock some of the catches. If magnetic collector is made for items then it should be only for that. Of course it needs some balancing, this idea is pretty much raw.
so fucking true
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again
if a mechanic is so mind numbingly basic that people with basic programming knowledge can write a macro for it, consider reworking it
The point is that it doesn’t feel good knowing that someone used the spot I shared to avoid getting temp-banned. If they have a problem with the rule itself or the reasoning behind the creation of said rule, they could try to rally up people for a change.
Though seeing how the rule itself still persists show that majority are in favor of the rule or don’t care at all if it exists
