Throughout Arcane Adventures and World of Magic, what do you believe is the strongest magic to have ever graced the series? This poll is solely in regard to PvP, and does take magic combos into consideration. This is not about direct strength; it is about comparative strength, regarding how much stronger a certain element is compared to the other options available.
Note: I had to remove some of WoM’s weaker magics due to the poll size limit of 20; don’t think anyone would be voting for those I chose not to include regardless.
Back when the ‘Final Update’ for AA dropped w/ level cap 1000, I remember Tier 5 Firestorm’s burn with good gear being like 130-150 a tick. Was crazy back then.

lightning for WoM, its speed and power make it really decent for PvP
in reality, though, there isn’t actually a singular “strongest magic”. if a magic lacks in power, it could make up for it in speed, which actually counts since (strongest = most powerful [in this question]) and the stats of a magic can account for its overall power.
TL;DR: The strongest/most damaging is gold, and the most powerful (general/overall power) magic would vary, but lightning is a decent candidate.

Not entirely true. I’d actually put Light down here if anything; Light magic was hardly popular until AR came around. Water was loved by Lightning mains for obvious reasons, but also by Light mains; the Soak status decreased movement speed and high jump height by 10%, making it somewhat easier to land beam attacks (which were already difficult enough to dodge). Not to mention Water’s ability to clear Fire with its R, which was very useful due to Fire’s annoying global popularity.
Wind was very potent; similar to Water, it could cleanse Burn with its R. The knockback effect from Wind’s Q allowed for greater potential punishes than other elements, not to mention the fact that Wind’s projectiles were practically invisible in AA. If you thought it was hard to see Wind in WoM you’ve got no idea what it was like back then. And the ultimate, ignoring the funny ragdoll potential, was practically impossible to miss. It was just free damage. Couldn’t be blocked with a barrier like Shadow, Lightning, Earth, and Water, and couldn’t just be outrun like Fire and Light; you just got hit pretty much every time, as long as the Wind user had half a brain.
a lot of wom and aa magics are decent at the very least. taking one sole magic as the best for pvp including synergies is very difficult. take wom for example.
shadow has always been known as a top tier pvp magic due to it being fast and dealing good impact damage. however, it has no synergies whatsoever, making it only good by itself.
taking a magic combination such as magma + acid + fire, in which each magics status effect boost both other magics damage by 25%, would be quite good in many circumstances.
however, which one would really be better? true, both acid and magma are very good
magics alone, but they work even better when paired with each other.
the total damage output would surpass shadow by quite a lot, as both magics has dot and puddles.
but to use the magma acid combination to its fullest extent, you would need to constantly switch between magics to apply the dot boost, making it not just ONE magic good for pvp, but two magics into one combination that benefits both, however needing constant use of both magics.
thats why u cant take a single magic good for pvp with synergies, because if you count really good synergies it isnt one magic anymore.
also technically aa magics are the same as wom magics lore wise, in aa each level is 2 wom levels tho, making scaling twice as strong (iirc, it could be the other way around tho)
if you are talking about moveset, thats entirely due to lore reasons but with woms future customizability ideas wom magics would definitely be stronger for pvp due to the variety.

This has nothing to do with lore, I’m just asking about what people’s thoughts on the strongest magic in the series PvP-wise is … AA and WoM are two separate games, but I want to see the general sentiment on which magic from either game went beyond the bounds of balance and truly eclipses the rest of the choices.
This list is discussing the history of the franchise. The era in which we’re able to wield two magics in WoM has yet to occur and never will; combos with friends are fine, as I briefly discussed synergies in the introduction to the post, but there’s no point in speculating about dual magic combos from a single player as it’s not something that we are able to experience as of yet.
Holy shit lightning was cracked in AA, water magic used to boost the hell out of it and be like the only synergy of the game. Also anyone in the ocean just died.
As for WoM, lightning isnt bad. Still has good synergies, its fast, not the worst damage, and unlike most fast magics its clash rates are actually good imo, so like never got bad.
Water is my close runner up, in AA it had good size underwater, but in WoM it is one of if not the best magic, and clears a lot of statuses. It wasnt bad in AA and it became great
