Triasta is also an utterly impractical trident but it’s still a trident
Polearms are historically the best weapon, because reducing the chance of being hit while hitting is a 10/10 advantage. You could make an arguement for longswords, but in general: swords are sidearms, their good when the space doesn’t allow for Large weapons.
As for farm tools as weapons- Sharpened Shovels honestly work better. They’re closer to a standard weapon, already are common enough for digging through dense terrain (like between roots); and don’t have the stupid weaknesses of a scythe.
(why are we derailing towards practical weapon discussions? This is a fantasy game, the metals are just build different and always pierce, alongside the people wielding them do extra damage per style point from using them).
I’m pretty sure this is even used in the modern day in the form of a multitool that also happens to be really good at killing people.
Me when crashing out over something slightly unrealistic or impractical is added to the game where you can turn invisible by flexing your muscles the right way.
Come on, dude, that’s not a crashout. That’s just a simple realism talk that acknowledges its own weakness, that being the fact this is a magic RPG game talking about. There’s plenty of that on forums.
No that’s only a restriction for spirit weapon and magic type suggestions. You can very much suggest new weapons or weapon types.
If you can’t tell by the tone of my message, I wasn’t serious.
Ah aight np then
I love how people still debate about the combat prowess of scythes in media even though it’s fantasy media where it’s only there because it looks awesome in fights.
we have skills that completely break your bow just for a sort of wind shot attack before it comes back, we’re able to fire off pulsing magic wind from a staff that was underwater for like a thousand years. I guarantee you when we get scythes they’re gonna have some sort of curving attack that defies the laws of physics before it blows up on contact because this world is a glorified anime.
(In all seriousness I don’t actually care about arguing over this, I just think its funny that we still got debates like this going on. Yeah scythes suck as weapons, they were never really intended to be ones and were just made to thresh wheat. Still, people long ago still found them menacing enough to justify giving it to a personification of death and consequently made most edgy characters prone to having one as their weapon. It’s never been practical, but it’s still awesome to watch someone wield it.)
One sexy skeleton wields a scythe as a spiritual symbol, and suddenly people think you can fight with farming tools.
If Vetex adds a trowel as a kind of dagger, then we can think about wielding scythes.
I mean scythes are already planned, though a trowel dagger would be pretty funny
It should be a spirit tool, and one of its moves should be to build a small wall.
Scythes have been planned for a while iirc, and this isn’t a new thing for the game either because there was a scythe magic weapon in AA as well
The return of shadow magic scythe users
The edgelords are going to be celebrating lol
(at least if Vetex doesn’t make it so that scythes are available only for warriors when they first come out)
Scythes are most likely going to have generic variants so rusty (and maybe iron) would be available to conjurers
I feel like people forget things can just look cool for the hell of it lmao
But every time I see somebody battle with a scythe, I’m just imagining them trying to fight with it, and all they can do is pull their opponent towards themself so that they can be hit easier. That, or helplessly missing every shot.
ppl arguing that scythes suck as melee weapons when NO ONE IN AO uses pure melee
It’s all air slashes and what not, maybe even throw in the occasional weapon spin while you’re at it
