Stand ready for the eggs worm or something I don’t remember what the image said
→ “riddles too hard”
→ “riddles hard is good”
???
like Yeah, the event is for people who are still playing despite the lack of content? of course its somewhat tailored to people still on AO right now. sure, they could work mindlessly, but giving people who follow AO at least something to do is nice, and events make a reasonable time to take a break from Full Release dev-time to make something for people to do, and usually dont take that long.
Does anybody here even understand the concept of an event?? ALL events are limited time to serve for engagement, that doesnt change them being fun to do even if they aren’t integral to the game. Its not like this is heavily monetized, you’re only contributing to AO by playing, and its already Easter Seasonals, this stuffs gonna end up being priced at 150 Galleons.
If you feel like AO’s easter is a waste of time, dont play for Easter? Nobodies forcing you to play; and when you are playing nobodies forcing you to do the event; and even if you do the event, nobody is trying to get you to buy anything further. Play if you want the items, dont play the event if you dont. If you dont feel like hunting, just ask somebody else where the eggs are and sail over while watching youtube if you dont like sailing.
Yeah but then again dunking on Stock is normal procedure in the forums right
(based off of previous times)
I just don’t like people dunking someone. It just doesn’t sit right on me
It shouldn’t sit right anyways
No, I’m sure there’s someone else out there with questionable taste. Sailing provides a design space for sailing-related encounters (other ships, diving spots), and even if it is uneventful, some downtime is good, it doesn’t have to be action-packed all the time.
People do activites more when there’s more incentive to do them. What is your point?
I think these events based on real-life holidays that don’t fit in with the game’s world naturally are acceptable to be temporary. I’m not a fan of FOMO-causing features, but I think this is a minor issue at worst. The rewards to be missed out on are tradeable.
As for the dreaded “engagement”, it is a multiplayer game - how is getting more people to play a bad thing? I sailed along with two other people I didn’t know to find the Ashen and Maelstrom eggs, had a good time.
What do you mean by this?
Were people responding to Stock negatively because Stock said something, or because of something Stock said? It’s the latter.
unsure if anyone has said this yet but ive seen it in this thread after only like 30 seconds, so i think its necessary to say that
not all design that makes you spend more time in-game is predatory, not all design that seems tedious in one way or another is predatory/designed to get money out of you
as Walyn said FOMO does exist but i dont think thats applicable either (any event with a reward would do this)
overall i dont think vetex would make design choices like that
dont have to tell me twice
like im sorta stupid…
how does like, spending more time doing shit in game = predatory? Like yeah you’re engaging in side activites you wouldn’t normally do and it takes time but… unless you have premium vetex isn’t directly getting paid to keep you ingame. It’s also not like they’re deliberately making it slow so they can make you pay for shit.
I guess you could argue if you spend so much time in a game you might buy gamepasses but I dunno, it just doesn’t click to me. I think there was something about roblox engagement stuff but I’m pretty stupid though, so I really don’t know…
I think people are just making fun of another thread where someone insinuated that AO was predatory because a lot of things take a really long time to get to the point where it’s annoying, basically getting dumbed down to “predatory == takes a long time to do”.
These things aren’t actually predatory at all, but it’s funny to say it is because the point makes no sense.
it doesnt even matter at this point, its unlikely we’re getting any event that isnt do certain things in gameplay or go on a treasure hunt for 20 items
couldnt even think of anything more compelling than those two
Maybe Yuletide lowered my standards to an unhealthy degree.
what did Yuletide even do to you??? aside from Natasha being difficult (more or less an issue with NPC AI), Yuletide was pretty cool
The commute time
IT WAS JUST SO LONG BRUH
(lowkey I could’ve listened to an entire calculus lecture while travelling everywhere around the bronze sea for the quests)
i semi get the sailing issue, but at the same time I’m mostly fine with sailing and like doing Diving spots and raiding ships.
Yule-Island to Othrys was still excessive
Sailing in AO is as uninteresting as the 4001th ant that you’ll see in your life. It’s boring and plain, yet we can only hope that full release’s weather event fix, additions, and dynamic sea will help solve this issue.
stocksounds just a hater fr
the lootboxes
the insane travel times
kill 8 snowmans
way more than just 8 snowmans
