Pretty much every possible secret commodore Kai could be holding

Ranked from most likely to least likely. The lower ones are really dumb.

He was Edward’s superior
Kai would have a lieutenant rank here. Edward left and Kai stayed and advanced to the rank of commodore. Nobody knows how much time was between Edward leaving and Kai becoming commodore. This is the least outlandish but still not likely to be revealed unless Edward specifically wants to get back at him. Plus if you blew up an entire town you’d want that to be secret too

He is corrupt and takes bribes
This is most likely. Edward Kenton’s navy reform puts him at odds with the big Kai, plus Order members aren’t going to be killable before their big reveal

He is colluding with the assassin syndicate
The red jacket unique to only him could be his other uniform which he can drop when he wants to go visit his people in the Red Corner. The Red Saber might not be a Navy Title but actually the title of a operation from the Assassin Syndicate. They love to put Red in front of everything. The Red Corner: their first hideout. The Red Council: their leaders. The Red Saber: the spy they installed in the Navy. Plus Whitesummit is really really close to silverhold. How hasn’t the navy stormed the base? It’s implied that if you escape the blackwater criminals the navy would know about the place. That means someone would have to be preventing the navy from taking out the red corner. It’s not like the red corner is well defended either

He’s a minor order member
I mean, if the order has people in all places of power, one of the first places you’d put someone is in the navy that spans the entire war seas. He’s probably not a Baron since we can already kill him

He’s killed a lot of people
You don’t get a title like The Red Sabre by doing good things you know. That’s a title you give to someone that goes way overboard on the killing

He killed the Vindicator user
The vindicator user mysteriously disappeared one day. Given that his gear is low enough level to be found in the bronze sea during the story, we can assume that this guy was a prominent figure in the navy and most likely around the bronze sea, which would be a shame to not have him as the silverhold Commodore. Commander Kai wanted that position and had to dispose of the guy first

He knows where Mimhere Island is
If he knew where this elusive island was, then he can assume that anyone who marches their way up to him to personally take him down is after his “secret,” and the one secret people will kill over in the high seas is the location of prestigious treasure

He had a relationship with Souvella
Now we’re in the really unlikely ones. But both shared the same rank and were clearly posted in the bronze sea. Also, I’ve never seen any other Commodores here so they’d have a lot of interaction. Plus that watermelon farm can clearly sustain two people

He’s the Kingslayer, Mistwalker
That mercenary with a blade so evil. This guy is known for his blade that glows with red energy. He could’ve been a mercenary before joining the navy, or the ghost is just calling him that. Personally I think it’s Avery. He’s evil, he killed a king, and he’s a swordsman. Or Torren.

He works with Calvus on the Winterveil Extermination
He clearly can find people anywhere in the Bronze Sea, and The Red Sabre is kind of a war criminal title. The bronze legion and navy clearly work together given by how they were gonna send Ruby Roger to the navy and not detain him. If Calvus needed someone who had the power to find and hunt down winterveil people, this would be him

The order tortured you in Silverhold under his watch
Your character doesn’t remember shit and Morden probably only saw the cell plus however they escaped from. Tucker is dead. Maybe Kai is telling YOU specifically that you found out his secret, and figured out that he brought you to Silverhold for the order. I mean, that’s the only other place in the bronze sea to put a dungeon besides fort Talos, and of we escaped fort Talos then Argos or Elius would’ve chased us down. Or my boy Roswell.

He’s Architect Merlot
Have you seen them in the same room? Kai could be only using his weapon and no magic, but his magic is where he got the title. Also we never seen Merlot’s face. NPCs awaken in strange ways so maybe he’s powerful enough to use both a weapon Aura and magic

He’s a vampire
Look at him. Tell me that doesn’t look like a Victorian vampire. Real Castlevania looking ass. Vampirism is clearly a thing in AO, based on the lost fighting style.

He’s gay
I said every possible secret

The Best Theory:

He’s our father.

:eyes: This is one I didn’t see coming. But it does make sense considering they were both in the navy and likely the same station.

WHere is that one Merlot X Kai shipper

what’s with people shipping characters that would literally tear each other apart like wild animals if they ever saw each other.

Correction: Only BARONS and HIGH LORDS arent supposed to be killable before their reveal. In fact, some of them are actually gonna be discoverable only through side quests last I checked. Ellius and Carina arent barons and high lords too.

I remember someone saying that Kai and Merlot arent actually supposed to be fightable at this level actually, which was why they werent going to have drops till people requested them.

I think the Order is most likely if you connect some dots.

it wouldn’t surprise me if kai was an order AND a syndicate member.

I actually wonder… why do people say he’s a syndicate member?

The red theme he has despite being in the navy.

The only other noteworthy uses of the word “red” are ALL related to the syndicate so not much reason for this to be an exception lol.

Hmm, Ic, though seems to be just a correlation that could be coincidental. There are other characters that are also associated with Red (Iris, Ruby Roger)

well none of them are “the red (word)”
like… the red council, the red sabre, the red corner, ect ect

Still, I dont think its strong evidence imo

mfs need to get a fucking grip

if only there weren’t any forum “rules” or “guidelines” I’d spit my shit

tbh, its either ties to the order or syndicate or both, all are equally as plausible. the G.N pretty much has to be tied with either one to have the connections to make non-agression treaties with every kingdom (assuming they have treaties since there aint no way they got the ability to sail and set up forts unimpeded by kingdoms across the war seas without em), while it was still a kingdom I assume.

Its been established that the Order has control over pretty much most of the War Seas and infiltrated the higher ups. Calvus also states that the Order is actually the one keeping the War Seas from falling into absolute chaos, creating treaties between kingsoms. The way Calvus said it sound that the Order was also involved with the treaty with Keraxe, Sameria and Ravenna.

Things seems to be stirring up recently because the Order seems to be finally putting their plans in motion, and we’re getting involved too.

The way that GN’s history is worded when you interact with the NPC abt the GN makes me think it’s the Order itself.

The GN actually became a law-enforcing kingdom rather recently, only 20 years before the game’s current events. But the Order was possibly around for much longer than that, they were probs one of the last to become part of the Order after they already asserted dominance over all the kingdoms, making the treaties possible.

GN seems to hate the Assassin Syndicate. They literally attack Assassin ships.

Ironically enough, Vetex himself was the one who said this.

And I would agree that the Order might be it, but at the same time, I’d imagine that Vetex is saving the side-quest Barons for something more sophisticated… Something like a previous name-drop in the story… Someone to do with Ravenna… A feature cancelled temporarily due to how advanced the idea for it became.
Such as Fort Castrum.
I severely doubt Kai is a Baron, when there’s a hint in the storyline that another Ravenna high-rank is up to something (forgot his name; he’s only mentioned once during Fort Talos’s story part anyways)

So mysterious for someone who only used two moves.

Yeah, what i meant by that part was that someone said that Vetex said that, forgot to add that in. I wanted to say that since I got it from a secondary source and if they were wrong, welp.

I doubt Kai is a baron. He doesnt have to be, remember there’s Carina who herself, isnt a Baron but is still a ranking officer in the Order and Elius who hasnt even completely joined their ranks yet.

The one of Kai’s dialogue hints at the latter. He’s a guy trying to join their ranks.

And yeah, Fort Caestrum was def for the Bronze Sea’s second Baron, since Vetex confirmed that second Baron is not gonna be in the main story. My guess is, Fort Caestrum was where Morden and MC were kept at before the events of the story.

Theres a huge empty space to the east of Dawn Island, and you gotta wonder… why are all the islands in Bronze not in the center but all positioned closer to the west side? It leaves such a huge empty gap to the east. Such a big gap that there’s room to literally add another cluster of islands. As if Vetex is saving an island in the east, but away from everything.

It makes sense he would cancel it for now. Giving MC the opportunity to come face to face to face with the very people that captured and tormented them, what led to this whole journey in the first place in the very first sea… is an odd choice. This is like an endgame level of plot that shouldnt be started in the very beginning. There’s no personal stakes even since MC doesnt remember a thing.

This is why I once suggested the idea of side quests that leads to previous seas, storylines that revisits previous places we’ve already been to. Something big like the Fort Caestrum plotline should be left near the story’s end, yet it’s in a weird position where it’s literally located in the beginner’s area.

Iirc the Sponsor NPC says that the Navy often hires the assassin syndicate

Imma hop on rq to check

Me being like: Merciless trait = the navy hiring out the assassin syndicate on us.
