You have… several times.
Not since you picked this junk up.
I fully agree with that having to redecorate every time would be tedious. If i were to implement it, i’d probably make it so you can save your layouts, so that you can choose which one to apply witht he click of a button.
This idea didn’t make it to the main body of the post because it goes against one of my, admittedly arbitrary, rules for suggestion: “Whenever possible, build on top of an existing system instead of asking for a new one”. Presets would make developing this even more time consuming than it already would be, which would drive the “reasonability” down…
This could probably be fixed by having all houses’ layout have the same rooms connected in different ways. This would allow for presets to be saved across houses but remove the diversity they may have.
Then again, this is like clan island building, so nothing stops people from having a preset for all houses. I don’t really see how this is a problem when it isn’t for clan building.
Yrni0, Arcane Odyssey is an RPG.
And on that topic, it might be the most RP of the RPGs on roblox. Main reason for that being that Vetex seems to really like these seemingly pointless mechanics.
What i’m talking about?
- tanning
- getting dirty as time goes on
- having to wash the acid rain off
- temperature and smoothies
I think there are more I don’t remember. Point is: Vetex wants to make the game more immersive.
And while some points of immersion affect gameplay, some others such as tanning are just there to make you feel there, you know? On that sense, our character has no place to call their own since they woke up.
Back in World of Magic, i would eventually come to the place my character first spawned and find that my home was still there, with my name and all. It didn’t add anything to the gameplay, it didn’t give anything, but it felt like my character was part of the world, you know?
And if you think about it, you’ll realize that even the immersion mechanics that affect gameplay are probably an afterthought.
Vetex probably thought first that “this make sense so i should add it” like hunger and saturation, and then he thought “how could i make this more useful to the gameplay?” Which resulted in buffs and dishes. Now i bet you there are players who just have fun hunting for new ingredients and making new dishes.
I play an awful lot of warframe, more than i’m willing to admit. And DE didn’t need to add as much customization as they did, but thei’re praised for doing so every waking day. You can customize your ship, your bedroom, your own house. Is there any practical reason for that? No. But people do it anyways. It is good to express oneself and people feel at home when a game let them do so.
I really hope you had the patience to read through all this, i think i said too much
My bad i haven’t tested clan building yet cause none of my slots have enough funds to do so as of now. If presets are a thing for that then for sure it should be a thing here, i was of the impression that whenever you claim an island you’d have to build it from scratch
