Im honestly “fine” with most of it, my main issue is how the balance for NPC skills is the same as for player skills.
Which can make NPCs INCREDIBLY annoying if they have stuff like hitscan for example.
Especially gunslingers, you cant avoid it because NPCs have autoaim, it does a lot of damage, and it has no windup or end lag. If you have a Gunslinger Navy Major after you you might as well just give up.
Another thing I have an issue is is just with M1s, the defaults of weapons or fists are beyond useless unless you have extremely good ping and no memory leaking while NPCs can kill you in 2 seconds if you stand still
deckhands are intended to be fairly insignificant stat bonuses as a reward for reaching high renown. I think a major issue rn is that the stats aren’t insignificant in the slightest, they end up defining your ships build.
maybe the play is to simply gut deckhand stats? idk. Would make things fairer and meet a sort of middle ground between both sides of the argument
In 2 days of like 4 hours gameplay i lost over 60k renown just because some random guy decided to hunt me for fun. I still cant get back to my previous renown
Then why have them whatsoever? What’s the point of reaching that amount of renown for something that doesn’t affect you that much? You might as well delete them if they aren’t supposed to be that helpful.
An even lower reward for the same extreme grind? If anything that sounds worse. Just separate deckhands from renown, and give renown some other reward that’s less-important, maybe unique vanity sets for hitting certain milestones (like every 100k, or every 250k, for example).
I’d much rather they stay as being important and just become completely separated from PvP as another aspect you can customize with your ship.
I’ve seen a fair share of ways to separate them from the renown on the forums.
Using feats, rivals, duels, or even just flat out money (boring) would all work.
They could function kinda like the ship equivalent of jewelcrafting where you find one with the rolls you want and then perfect it.
I mean, vanity is nice, but mechanically I think if they aren’t meant to be that significant in the first place, they might as well just not exist. It’s a waste of time on all ends to make em. Might as well just let us customize how we want our crewmates to look at will. Just sayin’
btw did you guys never thought of the Idea of just porting the random quest maker from WOM to the deckhands because they are kind of like “lesser” quartermasters
and just have it so harder quests give better deckhands?
And leveling them means doing more quests for them?
THIS
THANK YOU FOR VOICING THIS
things get difficult for me with the fact that I have no properly good ship, currently at level 69, and am broke as shit so I cant even repair my ship if it sinks to whatever unforseen scenarios
Thank you for pointing out the perilous lives of people in the 50-70 level range
