Regarding the PvP On/Off Setting that vetex has just announced-
What do we think of it?
And, particularly, what do we think of this idea?
Instead of leaving it up to the player to enable/disable pvp, make entire servers with pvp off, and pvp on.
Personally, I think it’s a much better idea. This way, anyone that wishes to not engage in PVP will have an experience equal to what they would have under Vetex’s proposed idea.
However, players that wish to PVP will have a better experience because everyone in the pvp servers will be able to pvp, there wont be any possibility of coming across people with pvp disabled, or even potential abuse like someone disabling pvp infront of your face before you hit them.
First time posting, vetex wanted to gauge feedback and see additional ideas, so here I am.
I don’t think having PVE/PVP servers would be a good idea. People just would not play on PVP servers unless they are actively looking to PVP. With the toggle, players in a clan or with high renown are always at risk of being hunted and I think that’s a good thing to have.
some clans like the one I am in is actually just exploration based so it would be cool to be able to disable pvp even if your in a clan, maybe like the clan owner can decide if it will be a pvp clan or a pvp-disabled clan. If that makes sense.
The only issue I see with the feature is having clans be restricted to PvP on.
I would prefer to see only high-renown clans having PvP on, similarly to how high-noto players are forced to have PvP on. Maybe a clan setting could be implemented to ‘cap’ renown progression so that active players dont perma-enable PvP for a farming or fishing clan.
I’ve spent a lot of time over the years playing PVP focused MMORPG games, both on Roblox and off of it. These are games where you can randomly walk up to somebody in a full loot PVP zone, stab them in the back, and then steal everything that they were carrying, potentially setting them back by days, weeks, or even months worth of progress. I did that to people fairly regularly in those games. In Arcane Adventures, I was a shameless A.G lieutenant who spent a lot of time ganking other players and generally just being cruel to others.
That being said, here are my thoughts on the changes proposed by Vetex.
Massive fucking W.
These changes are objectively positive for the future of the game.
Having forced PVP in every single part of the game world is so hilariously short sighted that almost none of the PVP focused MMORPG games even do it.
Even the ones that do, such as Eve Online, have systems put in place to heavily deter players from randomly attacking innocent players close to hub areas. A good example of this is Eve Online’s CONCORD faction, an NPC police force which sends a battleship to instakill anyone who attacks innocent players.
So yeah, having PVP be an opt-in feature that you have to willingly get involved with only makes sense.
Casual players and non-combatants shouldn’t have to stress constantly about getting jumped by a squad of pvp players, they never signed up for that and are just trying to enjoy the game.
