PVP Toggle Concerns

As more competitive players will be placed against each other, I feel like now is a great time to bring up the issue of Jailtime.

Jail only serves as a hard “break” for players out of actually playing the game. It won’t be as much of a proble for PVE players as it is for PVP players(As they will soon be restricted to a 300k renown requirement or being in a clan for forced pvp), but the fact that prison is literally an ingame punishment is a problem in of itself, in my opinion.

Sure. There should be drawbacks to dying, but the drawback shouldn’t be a soft ban from playing the game. In the past people have suggested prison minigames and methods to escape that don’t just make prison a boring place where you spend most of your time watching a YT video or scrolling through shorts until you’re freed or executed.

Do you think that jail should be reworked too? Please discuss.

  • Yes, jail should be reworked as it is oppressive to both the PVE and PVP player experience
  • No, jail is fine as it is and should not be changed. (State reasons why?)

My opinion has not changed, kill it, it serves no purpose but to waste the player’s time.

Its also completely unrealistic to expect a jail revamp that’ll (somehow) turn it into something enjoyable, even without the massive risk that it completely fails at this.

oh thank God I went into this topic expecting more obvious bait

make it so that jail time base is increased to 10 minutes but you can do work that gives you some galleons and reduces your sentence (like in ro-wizard, if anyone has ever played that)

My main concern is with how long players will be in jail, especially in the higher renown ranges. Players of 300,000 renown or higher WILL be spending 10 minutes in jail, and that’s not fun at all. I’m thinking of a mechanic that REDUCES the time spent in jail while staying lore based. Like bribing a guard to reduce your jail time.

ahem read what i posted please

I guess that’d be alright, but I feel there are better solutions..

I mean frankly, an escape minigame or sequence would get incredibly old incredibly fast.

If your solution is to effectively reduce jail time to 30 seconds and keep players occupied with the game for that duration, why not just respawn them as normal?

Then the player is occupied doing something they actually want to do.

Sure, but the point is you’re no longer spending 10 minutes in jail, you’re spending 30 seconds in jail. That makes all the difference!

Vetex prioritizes lore over gameplay, so a solution like “just remove jail” probably wouldn’t pass by him. It took two years for him to implement a PVP Toggle(Though I gotta say it was worth the wait). If criminals must be imprisoned upon arrest, then there should be ways to make the criminal experience NOT completely unenjoyable.

The PvP toggle is a change away from ‘lore > gameplay’.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter what vetex puts in the box, people are going to be frustrated there’s a box to begin with.

The only issue with cutting it completely would be the fact that players are held so they can be executed. Execution of players would likely have to go too.

Sure, but the amount of time that it took for the PVP toggle to be added really doesn’t reflect a complete change in my opinion. I really doubt he’d actually remove the prison system as a whole.

I get that, but if the box absolutely will not ever be removed, why not provide a mechanism for someone to exit said box quicker?

by the way, if I edit my main post will the votes on my poll be voided?

Make jail like how it was in WoM
Crime comes with a price

man i remember the old WoM jail times.

even better, make an escape minigame you can try once and if you fail your jail time is doubled
