Reason being the conditions to even be able to interact with the system.
Under 300k bounty/fame
Not being in a leaderboard
Not being in a clan
Long story short, the clan thing is the issue here. I understand that in being in a clan you become a target for other clans and that’s intended. But ever occurred to you that somedays you’ll just wake up not wanting anything to do with clan wars? On those ways, what’s the alternative? Disbanding your clan and starting from scratch next time?
What i’m here to suggest is an approach taken by a great deal of MMORPGs
PvP servers
Really? Why wasn’t this the first thought? Is server managing hard to do in roblox?
(Genuine question, I’m not familiar with the server side of roblox development
Have 2 types of server, one with PvP ON, one with PvP OFF, which you can pick from the title screen.
PvP OFF
Has PvP OFF by default
Can have duels as it is consensual
Can only be accessed if you’re bellow 300k bounty/fame
Cannot be accessed if you are in any leaderboard
has a slightly lower drop chance/yield as you face less of a risk (Optional)
Island Claiming is turned off, as there is no way to contest them
PvP ON
Has PvP ON by default
You can toggle PvP OFF with the currently planned system, as long as you meet the planned criteria.
Can be accessed by anyone, but players below level 50(?) still have their PvP locked as OFF
Has a slightly better drop rate/yield to make up for the added risk (optional)
Island Claiming is on, but islands can only be claimed/contested by those with PvP ON
This way, I believe you solve the problem of having people who want to PvP in a non PvP server, as well as allowing people on a clan to take a day off lol
You had a lot of time to think of this and you do it now?
Nonetheless, Clan servers function the same as a PvP on server because of said requirement, and if you really really want to be in a clan, just be in an NPC one (no sub clan).
Lastly, you don’t get to choose if you want to be in a clan war or not, that’s the enemy’s choice.
Also low effort because you aren’t the first one to suggest something like this
The only thing i might disagree with here are the drop chances being tweaked depending on the server, but other than that this should be rather easy and beneficial to implement.
Hey milanesa guy
I think i mentioned this somewhere before but i’ve been out of the loop for a good while. Came back, saw that (admittedly old) discord message of vetex talking about the pvp toggle and decided to give my 2 cents.
Also, if i’m not the first one to suggest this (and i’m glad i am not) maybe just maybe it is because it is a better alternative to what is planned. It’s what countless MMOs came up with after years of uptime.
Nonetheless, if clan servers really were the same as pvp servers vetex wouldn’t have raised the concern of leaving clan members out of the pvp toggle system in the same post he announced it
I do agree with you, just put that there to calm down any potential argument of “no one will do stuff in PvP server cause they can be attacked”
Like, it would be considerably safer to do a dark sea run on a PvP OFF server since there’d be no way to have your cargo stolen. I see no problem with this but i know there are those who would see it as a problem.
I don’t know who suggested it first, but it doesn’t matter when talking about quality and reasonability.
Also, clan servers aren’t an exact copy as to a PvP server like you suggest, but they do quite function very similarly according to the requirements since, well, most of the people who are there are in a clan or a sub clan, and for such, have the pvp on by default and can’t disable it.
Also, i should have added before, but being in a clan means you should be eligible for leaderboard, which doesn’t make sense when you can’t actually be stolen from because you are in PvP Off.
Dear, darling, you’re entitled to your own opinion and nothing in this world will ever change that. But please at least try to make sense
I’m not suggesting out of nowhere for my conveniece, i’m addressing a concern raised by the lead developer of the project. The dev team recognizes that forcing everyone in a clan to PvP is detrimental to the overall experience.
So, being eligible for leaderboard is NOT what vetex meant. If i’m ranked 7,000th by your logic i shouldn’t be able to toggle PvP because i’m eligible to be ranked 5th.
I realized this too late if i’m going to be honest, but this is suggestions though…
I know vetex didn’t say that, but the thing is as a clan you can’t just be peaceful, it’s like leading a nation (you can’t use the switzerland example because they may be neutral but they are ready to fight)
A clan as an entity cannot be peaceful? But not being able to be peaceful at all id you’re part of a clan is something else entirely.
Like, you’re disregarding that there are other members to a clan outside of their leader. Following your example it is as if every citizen needs to be ready to fight the neighboring country at any given time. If i could meet you in the middle i’d say that clan leaders and those with a high ranking within it should be forced into PvP servers, but i still dont think that’s the right way to go about this…
Yes yes lets get half the clans and remove their ability to claim island, you know… The whole practical purpose a clan has
Its not like they dont know how to work on servers. There’s already 2 types of server and they’re already working on a pvp toggle. Just tie one to the other and call it a day
