Before I actually start discussing my thoughts on the recent news, I’m going to answer a few questions before they’re even asked because some people I KNOW are going to appear.
Music to listen to while you read (it’s quite long)
Did you actually read the announcement?
Yes, I did, Quit being Cynical
Do you hunt PvErs?
From time to time yes, but the line between PvP player and PvE player is quite literally a full set of gear and around 10~ hours at munera garden. I don’t think I should be demonized for hunting people with 100,000 renown and 0 player kills when there’s literally 0 other viable options I’ll actually find fun while trying to bounty hunt.
Do you know you're in the minority?
I’ve been a minority on the forums for ages because I enjoy PvP. I’m used to it at this point.
Is there a Tldr at the end?
Nah, fuck you, I spend all this time coherently tying out my thoughts with proper grammar; you can read it.
I also hate the terms PvPer and PvEr, so I’ll be using FIGHTER and EXPLORER from now on to describe them, unless quoting Vetex.
Now to begin, I will admit, I don’t COMPLETELY hate this change (shocking), but what I do hate is how much of a blunt hammer as opposed to multiple small chisels that could’ve been used to chip away at the massive stone that is toxicity.
- THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND BOUNTY??
“The current plan is to make it so that you can ONLY toggle PvP off if: you are NOT in a clan, are not on any renown leaderboard, and have under 300k bounty/fame.”
This is an insanely high amount. 300k bounty is hard to get even for skilled FIGHTERS, should’ve been way lower to not make bounty hunting as a FIGHTER looking for other skilled FIGHTERS to fight.
- Non-Clan FIGHTERS
“This would be slightly annoying for players who aren’t in a clan but want to PvP, since they’d be getting put in servers of mostly PvP OFF players; however, they would still be able to teleport into clan servers if they wish OR simply join a clan.”
You’re basically fucked if you’re an Explorer in a clan, or a Fighter in a clan.
If you’re not in a clan and enjoy fighting, you won’t be able to find people to fight without joining clan servers or being forced to join a clan. If you’re an Explorer, you HAVE to learn how to fight because just having a low player count will let other clan Fighters know you’re easy pickings and potentially risk being kicked from your clan due to negative infamy.
- Clan Servers WILL become agility hell
“I know the Agility stat would still be a problem and it will definitely still need some adjusting, but the hope is that this change would mean people run less often using it, because if they have PvP ON it means they want to fight.” t
This is wishful thinking. All the fighters are in the same server, so they won’t complain and run right? HELL NO. This actually illuminates how out of touch he is with the fighting community, because fighters complain about losing like 70% of the time. Whether that be ping spikes or high ping, I’m lagging, you’re using size, speed, cheese, or any damn build I don’t like. It just comes with the territory.
There’s no reason for me to not use an agility build now, as there’s infinitely more upsides to being able to move faster than your opponent and you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage by not using it (can’t run or chase)
- Elysium Still Costs Robux
Self explanatory
- This needs clarification
I’ve been witchhunted by groups of max levels while progressing a new file
If you were on your vetexgames account, this isn’t surprising. You’re the developer of the game. If you were not, then ignore this point.
In conclusion, while removing the toggle is a good idea to prevent random killings, having clans become a fully PvP feature will push all kinds of players away from them, due to a multitude of reasons.
That’s all for this essay, Archrono Out.
