Not really a fair comparison. WoM didn’t have a lifespan anywhere near AA’s and had significantly higher expectations from the start.
I think WoM is excellent in its ambitions and execution but is harshly limited and hindered by our expectations for it, our impatience, and the limited platform it’s on.
Wom guides the players around the map easier, but at the same time the story isn’t anything close to AA’s. Wom really feels more alive because of the npcs and the weather and the movement, but it’s lacking storywise.
I’m gonna go ahead and compare it from what we were getting.
… yeah world of magic and it’s not close…
Come on. All we were getting in aa was level 1000 3 mutated magics and a fight with durza.
In wom you get level 5000 5 MAGICS. And a chance to get a fire that was made by a god. One was a powerful wizard pirate. Other is a wizard cowboy. And this is coming from someone who played aa since 2016.
Hehe this is quite the comparison since AA was quite developed already while WOM was released during the very early.
As for the potential I would say WOM is far better than AA ever would have been due to the enormous potential of customizability planned for the game along with a neat continent booming with potential.
AO will change the course of the continent thing tho.
id say AA is better, but only because it was more completed and had more content than WOM, if WOM continued developing then definitely WOM would be better
Comparing them at their ends, AA for sure though its not really a fair comparison. AA has just had a lot more time to be developed and filled with content.
As for how they would compare if both continued development until their own stories end, I think in my opinion I would still go with AA. My main reason for this in my opinion would be progression, though there is more than just progression in each game for me its what makes me prefer AA to WoM.
AA did rely heavily on just spamming spells and weapons to level up but it also had a ton of quests, enemies, and bosses. Quests were much more diverse and would require you to for the most part explore new areas and fight new enemies. Even when travelling to quests it was a nice little down time to chat with friends you’re travelling with or just train your magic.
As for WoM the only real way to get experience fast was quests which were basically all just fetch quests. So many quests are just run over to this one group, kill them all, then go back. Travelling takes up 90% of the quest length. If quests continued like this we would just be getting stronger enemies and farther distances to account for our stronger player with horses or flight spells.
Both games certainly do have their strengths and flaws that make it hard to quantify whether one is better than the other, its just that without a major revamp (which WoM is going through right now) I feel AA is generally a more fun experience.
As they both are (if all features worked as intended), then AA is better simply due to being more flesh-out. Like I said, not a fair comparison but that’s just how I see it.
Basically what I’m trying to say is just because WoM had all these things planned out for it doesn’t mean it’s a better game. If the question was would WoM have been better than AA at completion that would’ve been a different story
