Rant About School

School: everyone in this forum knows it. We spend a chunk of our lives gradually ascending through grades, hoping to pluck out basic knowledge, such as the alphabet, math and reading.

Unsurprisingly, this thought is better when written on paper compared when applied to humans, humans that all learn differently and are all unique.

However, this is where the essence of the issue with school in general lies.
The constant obsession of academics via the use of rigorous and repeated testing and reporting.

School, in my opinion, isn’t about learning of intelligence or knowledge, but rather the preparation and memorization of a pile of useless facts for closed-minded examinations.

I remember starting school at four years old. The mentality, according to the school system, is that the earlier you start, the more you can cram into your brain, in order to “speed up the learning process”.

This is perhaps the stupidest thing I’ve heard!

Do you remember what you cared about when you were four? Because I certainly don’t! But it definitely wasn’t about how to read a clock with Roman numerals in it.

Of course so many kids are put off with the idea of school. They try to teach children things they are not developmentally capable of learning. It just puts even more stress to the minds of children and the teachers alike.
It’s like teaching children during their first ten years to be wimps; as the script gets flipped once they attain secondary school, as everyone becomes violent and rude towards you, getting a glimpse of what the real world is like.

None of this is to say that school isn’t important; it certainly is. I just think the way they implement the education system is backwards, and is unhelpful for the large amount of children who go through it.

There is a reason schools are so sought after and work. I am not knowledgeable enough to improve the education system, but there are people in the world who are.
But if all of this is so blatant and transparent to someone like myself, then isn’t that enough evidence that this system needs drastic changes to make it not stupid?

while the concept is easy to grasp for both reading roman numerals and a clock, it’s better to adopt this skill early on in life so i’m going to say this is a very poor example of your point

i personally do not face these issues, but i would probably appreciate a greater emphasis on social skills and development in school

the education system is highly flawed and only appeals to a certain demographic (one i used to be of), but i would highly suggest you make suggestions to a sort of alternative before you rant lest you become the same noise as every other complainer rather than someone offering critique to be heard

i didn’t at first, but when my gpa went from a 4.0 to a 2.5 i got it. school just isn’t for everyone and the emphasis on academic success is extremely detrimental to the development of more productive skills to the individual

wait, do other people not get taught roman numerals in school?? do people not know roman numerals?

:frcryin: ok

my rant was dumb, also this was on a Lego game forum

thanks for the opinions though, will keep that in mind for the upcoming future

they do I think, but I’m not American, so

This kind of just non existenent for me, I guess where I am schools are way more different than what you people are describing, which does make sense to be fair.

oof, i’m just saying this as someone who used to excel at school with ease, but as of this year i can’t be bothered to care in favor of my art and shit (also i’m lazy)

I don’t have those where I live because third world :troll:

My school district is so bloated and poor because of it’s bloatedness that all the students get really crappy stuff instead of the higher quality things my cousin’s smaller school district gets. For example, just a couple years ago, their school got completely revamped with a better library and they have new high-quality electronics to boost the learning experience, along with medium-sized classes so that their is maximum learning. However, in my school district every class is filled to the brim with students and all we have are really crappy chromebooks that probably put my district in debt. On top of that, there is basically no customization in your learning path, so if you have a different learning trajectory you are basically screwed. These problems are somewhat difficult to fix, and these problems have been a major problem in multiple school districts across the US.

ya know even though im in school i seriously dont care about GPA

idk how to even find it lmao

I know this post didn’t say school was useless

But to the people who say it is useless… I just wonder what taught them how to write

Maybe I just got a good af school because I’m in a private school, but it’s not that bad with my homework-stress load

Why do people villainize school so much? Do people just bandwagon on school hate because “hurr durr it give me WORK its preparing me for a hard job i MUST DESPISE IT!!!”

Be honest, if school taught you how to do taxes, y’all mfs would still be sleeping through it. After that you would find something else to complain about, and how schools aren’t teaching that thing.

Although some things need to be switched it would heavily impact the world. Organized reform takes place over time and slowly.
