yea
we barely have our own time and energy thanks to school lmaooo
tbh you only need at least up to like Grade 7 and everything else should be optional
school and homework takes up a reasonable amount of time while allowing people to still pursue interests
what grade are you in and do you go to a public school
12 and yes i do
youāre absolutely correct, technically thereās no reason we need to learn more than multiplication and division in math, save for basic algebraic equations
Alright, I guess your school is wayyy easier for you if youāre in your senior year of highschool. School and homework here do not take up a reasonable amount of time, and I have good time management skills and mental health. Thereās also the whole college board chase which is like āgo to college or youāre WORTHLESS!!!ā
Also mental health resources at most schools suck ass, and just make their students feel even more helpless. I wish I could go to a school like yours and make the same argument as you but unfortunately thatās not the case. School across America is dogshit thanks to their outdated standards and the No Child Left Behind Act.
ok thats understandable if its america
not sure on the no child left behind act though, sounds good on the surface
OH NO WONDER LMAO, where dyou live then?
straya, god was i blessed in a country of opportunity
the key word is on the surface. The No Child Left Behind Act was just a means of imposing standardized testing on everyone, so that Americaās test scores could be on par with countries like Singapore. Obviously it didnāt work, and all it promoted was mindless memorization and regurgitation. You donāt learn shit thanks to that Act, all you do is cram, sweat, and then forget.
I have to finish 32 paragraphs at least 6 sentences each by the end of this week. Also will most likely get homework while having that piled up on us.
thats just doing the opposite of what the title of the act is. Testing students doesnāt help them close the gap. You could check out finlands education, they genuinely have one on one student with teacher. ofc theres incentive for the teacher with them getting much higher pay and all
right??? The truth is we want education like you guys have in Scandinavian countries but Americaās school standards heavily outdated. Theyāre still trying to train us to become factory workers and make us blindly follow instructions for a measly pay. Iām sure youāve noticed that almost nobody becomes a factory worker these days.
Also the teachers here donāt get paid enough at all, like Iām sure if teachers got paid more and weāre allowed to teach their desired subject how they wanted (without testing/excessive busy work) I am sure the quality of life in America would rise substantially. Some of the best teachers Iāve ever had are severely underpaid B(
Australia isnāt that much better because the department of education was paying teachers less and we have something called NAPLAN (which was fine cause no one rlly cared if you failed or not), but then we started caring when the department was like ālol u gotta reach this mark or you canāt get your ATARā and because of all that, schools went on strike. Luckily it got removed so thats a +. and yeah, theres alot of pressure put upon students which causes a whole chain reaction of students putting pressure on other students to have this really high paying job by the end of university. Like bro, istg, if you say āI want to go to TAFEā or āwork in a warehouseā, there are people who will make fun of you and others who wonāt because they might be in the same position as you. In Australia though theres been more encouragement however to push students to do what they want so thats good. I really think that teachers shouldnāt be neglected because they teach generations of kids classic school stuff like basic math, english science but stuff like social skills and alot of them (from what iāve seen in my school) actually care about teaching and talking to students. Teaching isnāt an easy job and having to deal with obnoxious kids is takes passion and theres no way in hell iād be able to deal with that stuff if i was a teacher.
In summary, i reckon departments should give bigger pay to teachers and place less pressure on students. Nobody likes to study for a test just to meet with someones standards.
oh and thanks for listening to my ted talk
I know about two or three teachers in my school that got pregnant and missed most of the year, one of them was actually my chemistry teacher for that year (which was back in 2018 iirc) and she only taught us for a month at most before going on maternity leave. I had to get a sub teacher for the rest of the year
