“Hahaha! It’s like I’m back in my thirties!”, Argos shouted as he crashed into another corsair vessel, the fog from his cloud curse making it near impossible for average pirate aboard to see anything.
It seemed as though his curse had completely rejuvenated him. No longer was his body a prison growing frailer and frailer by the day. Now he was faster and stronger than ever before. The world would soon remember the fear it felt when Argos was in his prime, starting with these pirates and assassins.
“Don’t get too excited old-timer! You’re still playing second fiddle to the strongest curse user in the bronze sea!”, Julian exclaimed as he dispatched four ships with ease, “You’ve still got at least two- no, THREE hundred years before you’re half as good as me!”
“Bah! Just you wait young man, by the end of the day I’ll make sure that not a single pirate ever thinks of clogging this passage ever again!”
The battle raged on for a few more hours, but between Ravenna’s substantial navy along with the two curse users present the assassins could tell the outcome was clear. Soon they abandoned their corsair comrades, fleeing the passage way between the Bronze and Nimbus seas. The unfortunate pirates attempted the same, but as Argo’s destroyed the tail end of the escaping assassin vessels their escape had been cut off.
Argos swiftly grabbed the most important looking pirate he could find, “Your allies have abandoned you and your comrades number less by the second, tell me who’s in charge and I may consider letting you and your friends become slaves instead of shark bait.”
“I-I don’t know who’s ordering the blockade here, but! But! Our captain might! Captain Maria, she and her most high ranking subordinates are on an island just south of here! Now please don’t kill us w-we can do good work we promise!”
Argos slammed the rat into the deck, breaking the boards and knocking him out.
“Go figure they’re stationed in Nimbus, attacking there would definitely be cutting it too close to Sameria, and we definitely don’t want to give anything away too early. Guess you won’t be finishing off these pirates today huh grandpa?”, Julian boasted as he let a small laugh.
“Keep talking like that and these pirates won’t be the only ones drowning, but you’re right, we’ll need to speak with his majesty regarding our next move”, Argos admitted.
“As if you could ever beat me”, Julian smirked, “Speaking of the king though, he should be finishing up with his side of things any minute now…”
Merlot hurried through the Assassin base in White Summit gathering the assassins there to formulate a plan on what to do now. The situation has changed drastically and if they didn’t come up with something soon it could spell the end of the assassins in the bronze sea.
It was the fault of that stupid cloud curse user. Merlot clenched his fist at the thought of the dead man. If he hadn’t let himself get caught things would be going along right on schedule! They possibly could’ve broken the peace treaty by now! Now the assassins stationed in Bronze would be lucky if they even lived long enough to see Ravenna get into even a minor conflict.
It’s fine. It’s fine. Setbacks happen they could deal with it like every one before. Even if this setback had sent them falling backwards off the board. Regardless they would survive this, Merlot could make do even with Ravenna obtaining this curse. He just needed to find a way to get this heat off of them and onto something much more favorable for the assassins. A false flag attack perhaps-
Boom
It was far too late for any plan to save them. The ceiling caved in crushing some assassins, and Merlot could hear outside the walls, the criminals in blackwater screaming as their shanties fell upon them. Black and blue smoke filled the air as Merlot quickly put up a shield of his own magic. He could hold, if just barely, but his bodyguards were not so strong. The gas consumed them as their bodies quickly rotted away and turned to dust, barely a chance to scream before they were gone.
As the deathly smoke finally started to clear Merlot braced himself, the Bronze King of Ravenna was here.
“You and your fellow low-lives have been a thorn in my side for far too long. Kneel and beg for mercy, your king demands it.”
Author’s note
This is my first post in writing and this is just a first draft, just wanted to get the idea down along with writing the part of this AU where things really kick off.
I thought about writing this AU where Argos absorbs the cloud curse and Calvus gets the death curse for a bit, but until recently with the Nimbus Part 1 update, there wasn’t really much I could do with it. We didn’t really know much about the world at large or what other possible conflicts Ravenna was involved in, so the idea just kinda ended with “Ravenna beats the shit out’ve the mc and co.”
Granted now it just kinda ends here as we don’t really know enough about Sameria yet for me to make any accurate assumption on what Ravenna would do and what a conflict between them would look like. For these alternate history type of AU’s I like to keep everything aside from the primary change lore accurate as that makes how the change affects the world more interesting. Besides I’ve already made the assumption that Julian is younger than Argos despite having a curse rather not do too much headcanon beyond that.
There are some characters I’m wondering what to do with in this AU:
Revon: Just don’t know what exactly to do with him, but I do actually want to try to do something interesting with him.
Neviro: Probably has some of the most potential in this AU but I still haven’t thought exactly what to do with them.
MC and Morden: Debating on whether or not these two should still be alive or not. I have a scenario where Argos bodies both of them, and one where Argos leaves before the MC can ever confront him and guards the edge of the dark sea closest to the death curse so Morden never gets close out of fear of Argos catching him.
Let me know what you guys think about this. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve accidently copied someone who made something with a very similar idea lol.
