I think most people weren’t sure of the gods’ existence before magic because they probably stayed in olympus most of the time. When magic was made available to humans, i guess the gods came down more often to keep the mages in check or smth and in doing so, people figured out they were real.
Now that everyone knows about the gods, most people started worshipping them, but the new converts probably didn’t know too much about the gods so there must have been some misunderstandings and stuff carried from their old religions. Most people probably didnt know that the gods were unkillable so they just accepted that they were dead after arthur ‘killed’ them.
but idk, thats just what i think
Can I ask why it’s relevant? He IS still objectively dead, so there’s no reason to pray for someone people KNOW is dead
basically he’s not really dead his body is just dead but he’s not really dead and even if we say that his body being dead = him being fully dead how would people know this? as was said by celeste before the gods started messing around with mortals they spent all their time in olympus and people didn’t think they were dead. as far as we know arthur just said they’re dead
no
you can’t just say that the game is wrong about its own story. He is dead and gone. Most people probably don’t even know he existed
no that’s not correct at all as vetex said the world was exactly like our own up until around 100 CE and most Hellenistic works and art is from like before 500 BCE and stuff
Well Zeus would prolly be like Poseidon where he exists in spirit
But yeah his physical body is definitely gone since the peacekeeper kinda killed him (again)
dude what’s your source?
he is not “dead and gone” poseidon literally said gods don’t die they become spirits that wander the earth and it has been said most people obv know about the gods. they are mentioned quite commonly and that builder in amarut mentions zeus by name
Their spirits can fade and become so weak they are basically dead
i want vetex to elaborate on this eventually ig cuz rn it’s just really murky and doesn’t make much sense to me. like how does the underworld run itself? i think it’d be nice if vetex explained this all in more detail on the lore doc
I could ask if you’d like
Give me whatever questions you wanna ask and I’ll ask him in patreon chat
idk how to format it in questions succinctly
okay uuuh idk just ask how the death of gods works how powerful they really are and how religious people were before the gods died how people reacted to it and the general sentiment towards the gods and stuff ig smth like that idk

imagine god dying as apple rotting experiment.
Theoreticaly, in closed box, an apple will be reduced to ash, fully dissapear and re-make itself given enough time.
Im pretty sure its even stated somewhere, that gods dont die, their essence spreads so thin that they become mindelss, before re-appearing somewhere.
I think the main point of my og reply was missed oh well
