Really Interesting Combat Rework Proposal

so what? that doesnt sound smart, ur spending ur time to go in air while someone is shoting at u or comes closer to you, then u have to fall down, sounds more like pre-reflexes 1v1 which it wasnt that bad at all, if anything it was more fun

it is smart actually cus ur very hard to hit and u can endlag demon them if they try to turret

no its not, ur just letting ur oponent to take advantage of ur endlag/startup and leting them to come closer, that no different than a leap and tjump (expect that it actually costs u something), also did we forgot that turreting mages existed since 1.12? after metal got hard nerfed, it wasnt that hard to get in their rythm to parry their attacks

use Project Bending spell casting system (it will be very fun and easy trust!!)

if he does do a combat rework it should be like Elden ring but slightly faster and more AOE cause yk the nature of AO

AO should keep the dbz aspect, its the whole reason we look forward to the endgame

it doesn’t matter how close they are to u if ur soaring thru the air

what are u trying to say here anyway
i’m saying it’s too easy to play mosquito and stall which is boring cus it makes fights last a million years

im trying to say that air moblity has a limit of 2 and that isnt as effective as u make it to sound

  • Make base jumps higher
  • Make base running faster
(This makes terrain destruction less annoying and makes movement lest T-jump / dash dominated)
  • Pressing block twice performs an active parry
(Old parry is removed, but the new one has more leniency)

Could be nice.

Worried about dodge reflexes tho, since I like them.
Would they be deleted or replace normal dodges?

keep them

I love the idea in general, even if it’s way too late for it.
I’m not mad abt the combat system since I just suck at it, but a more grounded version has plenty more potential and room for enjoyment imo

I’m alright with this sort of rework, I remember feeling that AO’s combat had gotten too aerial once dodge reflexes were introduced. Although it’s hard to deny that flying around like a Dragon Ball character is also fun

removing T jumps is only something you couldve done before the game was released, its far too late now

it literally is tho
air mobility limit of 2 doesn’t change the fact that u can touch the ground for less than a second then fly back into the air

its extremely predictable, instead of attacking ur opponent, you use 2 mobility tools to go higher to try to airstall, meanwhile said tools would be better used for attacking, ur just sabotaging urself

i’m not saying they’re strictly used to like, go higher in the air or something
i’m saying how accessible and spammable they are makes it annoying to deal with
whether it’s to spam spiralling fury and rising tide to deal damage with little way to punish
or spamming it to stall for regen and baiting ur opponent into endlag

we could hop on rn and i can show you how one might only spam movement spells and be a complete pain in the ass

(also how tf are movement spells predictable bro they could go in literally any direction, cast it at any time, and move any amount of distance)

Yeah, but how?

Rn they are designed to be used mid-air.

Grounding the combat they would no longer have that function, since making a small jump to just dash, when you could just dash, would be useless.

It literally isn’t tho?
Next update is literally called full release?

And even if he wanted to change anything, it’s not like he couldn’t.
It’s literally a free game, so he is not entitled to do anything.

Well, let’s just see how it end up, wouldn’t be the first time he said he wouldn’t do something to then proceed to do the exact thing.

I’m intrigued by the idea tho.

The game hasn’t been released
