Sand/Lightning Interactions

I’m not sure if this is a bug or not, which is why I’m posting this in game discussion rather than in bug reports, but the glass with sand seems to be a bit impractical.

Once you glassify the sand piles, you have to hit with a very specific amount of force to shatter it. Too much will just delete the glass and too little will do nothing, multihits don’t work against it. Once the glass is actually shattered, the pieces aren’t very big and can sometimes have a fairly bad spread pattern. However, the biggest deal-breaker here is that the shards don’t actually deal any damage.

Now that the details have been discussed, I’m going to go off the perspective that this isn’t a bug and explain how I feel about this, and I kind of feel that this interaction wouldn’t really be of any harm to have improved upon. It’s not something extremely broken and is mostly just a zoning tool that can be avoided, similar to water puddle interactions. It would also make sand feel a lot more special and entertaining to use. Perhaps this interaction could also be done with fire and plasma.

And just some final notes, I guess if this still seems like it’s overbuffing lightning magic even after I addressed it, maybe at the least have the bleeding feature and having either the shards be bigger or the combo be more reliable rather than both at the same time. I just want a magic combo I can branch out to rather than going lightning + liquid, which will inevitably be the most overused combination. Having the magic already be so overused makes me want to have at least a little variety in magic combos without having to give up the major interactions liquid magics have with lightning for sand’s sub-par interactions.
