Should Clan Building Be Prioritized Before Release?

Introduction

I’m sure this didn’t come off as a shock that the clan building update made pvp way more toxic than it is considering it literally incentivizes conflict with how player hunting is made to give very few infamy while stealing islands gives 100+ infamy.

Over the last few days, I’ve witnessed some horrendous people do everything they can to insult the other party, spawnkill them in their own islands, and purely verbally harass simply because they gain more infamy by doing so since it makes their target feel enraged and try to fight back outside their island.

There’s one where it’s a 2v1 with the former insulting the latter for having a “trash” build and island building because he’s broke, a 4v1 where the former kept on spawnkilling the poor dude all while insulting the guy until they left in about half an hour (Would love to report this but since the rules allowed witch-hunting now, I didn’t bother to save the clip), a 2v2 with both parties literally being toxic to each other (lmao), and many more over the last 4 days.

I’m just glad that they’re separated into a clan server but if possible, keep them exclusively in there. 50K+ infamy clans shouldn’t be allowed in non-clan servers and instead only the clanless or below 50K infamy has the privilege to switch between clan and non-clan servers.

The Single Worst Experience I’ve Had Over 5 Others

I’ve had my fair share of toxicity too, the worst of them all I had 6 guys insult me as a group simply because I didn’t engage in their 6v1 while trying to steal my island for infamy. Calling me trash at pvp, a coward, gay, dog runner and such, I mean I ain’t gonna lie chat, there’s no one sane enough to fight back in 6v1 unless you’re a top pvper or a troglodyte so feel free to keep calling me anything you want.

One weird thing about this single experience alone is that I managed to hold them off for about an hour or so but suddenly they started landing 20s/20e beams mid-air without fail. Not gonna accuse them of exploiting but man is it weird that you guys can suddenly 100% land every small beams when I’m moving a ton with a max agility all when you guys are literally having a hard time doing so an hour ago.

If the group I’m talking about sees this, congrats on managing to kill me as a group for over an hour but seeing you only claimed harvest as the other island, was it worth the wasted time to get 150 infamy  . Not even sure if you guys are willing to call out yourself in here since quite literally your actions are anything but to be proud of. I’m fine with the insults since at the end of the day, you guys are quite literally randoms on the other end of the screen but not everyone thinks the same as me.

Was It Worth Prioritizing Clan Building Before Release?

Now I’m not one to specifically call out a group as something negative but man, the pvpheads are quite literally on a roll in this update in their toxicity. Now I’m aware that not all pvpheads are like this since I do know some top pvpheads that are chill but these types are very few compared to the majority of the pvpheads who are toxic. This is quite literally the reason why I keep saying that any feature that incentivizes pvp is unhealthy for the game such as the exhaustion mechanic. I don’t even know why it’s still being considered up to this day when the negative > positive the positive outcome, especially when it can be easily taken advantage of, there’s like six I can think of that abuses this mechanic.

Tried out clan building for four days since the reagent farm intrigued me but it takes a long time only for ~2 reagents compared to naturally grinding for them (Since Vetex fixed the reagent farm). Tried out the building feature as well and it’s somewhat fun for a day I guess, but man why the fuck do we not have a “move” feature and instead we have to destroy and lose some galleons on what we placed. Ngl chat, there should be a move feature if the main thing to correct a mistake is to lose galleons by destroying it otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

I initially thought that it wouldn’t be that bad since we could have walls and cannons/mortars so that the pve clans can somewhat defend against the pvp clans but it seems when the pvpheads can’t attack them directly, they resort to verbal harassment or if some of them know the method to glitch through the wall (How did this even get through from testing and into the game), they both verbally harass and hunt them a lot. What’s worse is that this is mostly happening to clans around 50K, I’m assuming that it’s because they’re a “free infamy pack” and most of the time these clans are focused on pve.

Vetex would probably argue that this is necessary since “pvp keeps the game alive” but here’s the thing, there’s quite literally very few good pve things to do in this game. Even if there are, all of those shit are either mind-numbing like fishing, digging, ship shinking, and cargo trading, or insanely frustrating like dark sea exploring, npcs with their supercharge (Cancerous with T3+ atlanteans), magic reset (If you know, you know), raiding mechanic (Takes too much time for very few modifiers, I’d rather do charts in this case), and some bullshit one shot minibosses.

If you don’t just want pvp being the only thing keeping the game alive then try to make the pve part fun. Like legit bro, I’ve been playing this game for a long time and not once did I feel the pve parts fun. Not to mention Vetex, you hate the pvpheads but at the same time you mostly cater to their liking. Is bro a masochist since he keeps trying to please the very same people he hates…?

End Notes

My thoughts on this update, especially clan building, was alright I guess but I personally don’t see it as something worth investing time into since imo building gets boring real quick and isn’t worth it when the negatives outweigh the positives. It just feels like this could’ve been added only after release compared to other things like town/kingdom alignment, profession, skill tree and player fleets.

Anyways, this is probably my last time to be somewhat active, as well as my last post for about the next 6 months since I pretty much just gave time to check out the empires update. There’s the halloween event but I’ll probably just log in once to see if the halloween drips are worth it.

Topic got closed before I could try to respond :fr: . Anyways @64arc , mb if it looked like I acted arrogant, it’s just that my first experience in after a year from leaving my first clan was really negative. Yeah I’m back to being clanless since I only joined one to just see how clan building looks like firsthand and then leaving after doing so, but this doesn’t mean I can’t give my piece on my experience simply because it was a short time that I saw a ton of toxicity happening and all the more that they’re mostly random 50K+ clans.

The first clan I was in was Church of Iris and contrary to popular belief, we did not sexualize Iris except for three low rank members that was immediately dealt with, but that didn’t stop the clan community from spreading the belief that we do and due to this we still kept on getting raided to the point visitor general is separated with the clan general. You can probably see why I have a bad perspective on clan communities since they’d rather believe with what they think rather than see.

This is why I can’t fully agree that to have a better experience with clans is to be in a discord server with them. I say “can’t fully” since I do have some nice interactions with them except those were few considering majority immediately tries to clown on me for being in CoI. Again, I don’t mind the clownery but since you’re using the clan community as an example and this is my first impression of them, you can see why I would disagree on that. If there’s been a huge change, that’s nice and I would probably agree on you but that doesn’t mean toxicity in-game doesn’t exist just because the clan community discord is a nice place now.

Though there’s a huge difference here, while my discord experience sucked, in-game it was pretty chill and I’m assuming it’s because clans didn’t have anything to do at the time and how most clan people that I encountered at the time didn’t care if I was in CoI. Hence when I joined another clan to try out building, then witnessed others and myself experience toxicity in-game, I would obviously think clan building wasn’t a good thing to prioritize after comparing the past and recent events.

Considering you’re involved with the clan community and that you got to know them, you would surely have a positive perspective since again, you know them and they know you which means they would act differently and so would you.

On a special note, Vetex wouldn’t have ranted months ago if majority are all nice and such. Since Vetex rarely plays the game and only about a day after the update is released, you could probably guess that majority of his frustrations are discord related which the clan community you speak of mostly socialize in. If even the dev himself hates it then clearly there’s an issue.

I agree that I probably based my look on these negative things and I can see why you’re frustrated with it but I can’t really help it. To make it simple, it’s like when you ride something in a theme park for the first time and had a bad experience with it, the first thing you would think of is that experience everytime something related to it pops up, it’s gonna be hard to change that especially the severity of it.

I appreciate the points you gave me regarding this and it was nice too. Overall this is probably it I guess, since the topic is closed then there’s nothing I can do. Have a good day/night!

this one korean dude ganked me and proceeded to farm me for about an hour just because i was in the navy

realistically why would you ever join a clan if you dont want to interact with the pvp community

idk, i wanted the ship colors and the logo on my sails?

…you mean a colored ship name and a floating logo above it? or are we talking about like the navy rather than clans

yeah

im in an lb clan and ive been playing for dozens of hours for the past few days, during which ive been spending alot of time claiming islands and building on them. neither me or any of my clan mates have experienced any of that so idk what you must have done wrong but its really not as bad as you say

I think they do it for the building, which is fun for a group of freinds to do. They do take the risk that they will have people claiming them when they do this.

because people want to access the new content and the flagship feature of the update

They really need to fix the glitch that allows players to glitch through the wall barriers, people did it so often to me that I’ve literally had to build a second set of walls inside my walls :skull:

instant reflexes should not glitch through wall barriers :speaking_head:!!!

youe done enough on your own, let me help you

think they were installing cheats

saint lily’s flower

testers persumably dont know about said method

ah yes
declare war first, then go on the psycological offensive
its suppose to be the other way around

why does this even exist

think he’s trying to please them so they dont come complaining

mkultra gel

what?

man doesnt know the mk ultra strat :sob:

Devious brewery

oh.

What in the actual fuck? The only experiences ive had with the new building and stuff was that I hopped on a few peoples’ islands with my clan leader and they let me check them out lol

People have also hopped on our islands and complained about the invisible walls

same here everyone has been pretty chill, even in clan servers where youd think everyone would be toxic

that’s what happened to me, people would let me finish up the treasure charts i was doing without trying to kill me
