(Coming from a person who’s played it for more than 500+ hours)
again all I can say is it’s a gamble
You don’t know if you are gonna like it or not unless you actually try the game and not be over-whelmed immediately upon joining
It’s worth it if you’re looking for a new game on roblox, this is worth it even for four bucks. Just be warned that if you are immediately over-whelmed on the spot, theres a good chance you are gonna quit and probably won’t ever log back onto the game if you’re those types of players. (I had some players who started deepwoken in the past and most of them quit mainly because of this reason)
(since most people playing the game get awfully over-whelmed and tend to quit because they don’t have some sort of “teacher”, this also includes getting even anywhere so best is to watch some youtube video tutorials even if it’s old and use the wiki for information about the type of cards and build you wanna go. This game is honestly hard without having a deepwoken builder and information guides beside you)
Opinion:
If I’m being honest you should watch videos and such rather than taking comment opinions since it is EXTREMELY mixed.
Like how I’m gonna say I am genuinely fine with the perma-wipe system and actually like it. Due to how much I barely die I don’t care much about the perma-wipe system, what I do like about it is simply because it tells you a few things:
- Can your build be improved/How can your next run be improvised?
- What did you learn through your play-through?
- What mistakes did you do?
(Something you should take in account during wiping, this type of behaviour in deepwoken really helps if perma-wipe it blocking your path to playing the game)

The only issues I’d say this game has is balancing (Which you won’t really see unless you’re a heavy chime player, so I wouldn’t really think about it too much). The toxic community when it comes to language is pretty bad but if you love exploiting their behaviour then run wild, their toxicity usually runs down a “family” of players for some reason. (If toxic also includes ganking, most ganks come from void-walkers which their way of progression is gaining great loot and EXP from bounties. Unless you actually meet those types of players who gank you for no reason.)
(Also I did see somebody say this game has ganking problems, yes it does but can be heavily reduced with voidwalker reputation system since most ganks come from them due to their way of progression)

So really this is how it works depending on if you wanna keep playing the game ig
Beginner player: (This is how I beginner players criticize the game before even reaching critical places like layer two. At this stage the game is very much hard-core)
- Start to see a lot of issuess
- Basically over-whelmed causing you to not explore/gain knowledge/research of the tame
- Entirely clueless of the game but it’s just far worse than other games you are clueless in like arcane odyssey
- A lot of criticizing over the game like permawipe system, gank problems, etc
(Most usually don’t even reach power 20 and experience world-bosses, dungeons, bosses, other islands, etc)
Experienced player:
-
Most likely knowledge of the game, the more knowledge you get of the game it starts to become way more cake-walk then you were as a beginner (like other games). Meaning you could easily prevent yourself from being ganked, wiped, able to make builds of your choice, easy map exploration, etc.
-
Would probably still have criticism over the game but most of the time it’d be light-weighted due to the fact most systems of the game can actually be prevented in a way
-
Would have problems with how dry the game has gotten/wanting more and better updates. (Developer has gotten better though)

Again, all I can say it’s gonna be a gamble for you, either you like it or not and this entire comment is mainly just an opinion about the game like every other comment since it’s extremely mixed.
Also, would like to say AO and DW feels similar but it’s not
