Size, Power, and Defense Need Nerfs

You just stated several ways to counter resistance right there. There is no counter to high power, defense, and size builds.

What ‘High power, defense, and size builds’ are you even talking about? Its hard to get above ~150ish size with high power and defense anyway, and thats barely any size. Tiers are what contribute to size the most anyway.

Skill is the counter to every play style, but past a certain point in the meta skill no longer matters and you’ll die no matter what. Not really a valid point. Also I was describing builds that had a high amount of one or maybe two with one as a main focus, not a high amount of all 3.

you mean…. every single viable pvp build? 170p/1kdef is basically the minimum for pvp.

I don’t go and just record myself every time I play the game. I don’t really need to either, everyone that’s done a lot of PVP has experienced exactly what I’m talking about. Not sure what you’re trying to get at honestly.

Right, I’m saying that should not need to be the case because it just eliminates the point of any other stat frankly in PVP (and kinda PVE sometimes because good GOD some of these new bosses do too much damage) and makes the game boring and frustrating any time you try to do anything unique or fun at all. This is a pretty clearly bad thing for the quality of the game. Don’t think anyone could argue that’s not.

Imagine if you were playing Street Fighter and the only character with any chance of winning with in competitive play was Zangief. I think a hell of a lot less people would be playing or Zangief would be outright banned completely.

Yeah, I agree with you…. but nerfing size, power and defense isn’t the way to go. Every other stat has basically been mauled - attack speed got foribly partitioned between dexterity and range, no one uses range, haste is not worth it past like 100, size is bad to run now because of the damage falloff, piercing and resistance are niche, regen got nerfed… would you rather have everything overpowered or everything underpowered? For past years balance team has been going the latter route. Result? what we have now, everything except power and defense are basically worthless since substats just aren’t as good as before, meaning you need power/defense to even stand a chance

Eh, I do still think that the main three do need at least slight nerfs, with a lot more attention paid to how overpowered weapon skill tiers can get with imbues at the very least. I do agree some of the other gear stats for sure need some buffs too. Like range is pitiful and long range attacks don’t even work 90% of the time though I am personally on the side of seeing it being valid to separate them as long as they both are individually strong for their own kind of play style. For instance perhaps range could gradually implement a slight damage bonus the farther you are from targets you hit. Size is definitely still very strong as I hardly noticed a damage falloff when fighting that wind conjuror at least. Dude was popping out 600 damage attacks with over 3k health that outsized my explosion size mage when that slot was at level 140 like what? No lost knowledge on them either, that was just raw charged damage. Need to find a middle ground of nerfing the big 2 and a half a bit and buffing the rest a little while giving them mechanics to further incentivize their use if needed and maybe explicitly counter opponents that have a lot of another stat that your gear stats are strong against in some way. Like say high range builds could have a clashing advantage against high size builds hypothetically.

At the very least power and defense need direct competition from other stats that they have a disadvantage against as right now neither has any weakness and size is just a full on skill crutch.

The falloff is pretty bad, when I tested it was almost 50% at the edges. Not sure what happened with the wind conj They were probably size stacking with imbue and dense.. the 600 damage is just weapons being broken and outdamaging everything

Ask a pvp friend most consider anything below 150 low

Bro size is the most annoying thing in this game, YES it needs to be nerfed and the drop off needs to be more severe. But honestly size is a problem mostly when it comes to berserkers and warlords, it’s waaay too much. Especially for the amount of dmg they can still do. It’s ridiculousss

what is considered high damage nowadays? is it like 400+?

200 or more (some people can also get 300)

isnt 200 being high moreso for pre-fr since the supposed average power nowadays to have is 150+ (which unless you’re using something with low base damage would atleast somewhat reach 300)

More fitting solution for the size issue is to make the damage dropoff depend on the total size of the attack and not the size gear stat itself as well as the player’s level. Could factor in skill tiers to whatever that hypothetical equation would be if needed.

150 is considered low, as far as my warden testing can see 150 power only scrapes 260 damage. Keep in mind as you get higher level stats become less effective and power peters out at around 190ish

(warlords and mage can also very easily reach 500 damage thus other classses needing more power)
