Some Dark Sea Questions I have!

Just some random questions that I have about the questionable world of the dark sea and it’s… mysterious glitchy and unknown nature!

  • Do swamp islands & volcanic islands spawn liquid starlight ponds more commonly?
  • Do Dark Sea Diamonds spawn anywhere at the bottom of the dark sea, or just the bottom of islands?
  • Do tears of gaia only spawn on mossy islands and volcanic islands?
  • Stratospheric islands exist… But… What is the widest island?
  • Do crystal field only spawn in insanity 1+?
  • What is the average level of a mutated atlantean in insanity 2? (Please… Im not going there myself…)
  • Is fishing up narwhal horns a normal thing in the dark sea?!
  • What is… THE LARGEST VOLCANO…?!
  • Is the Dark Sea Compass being unlaligned with the normal compass a game design choice
  • Why does the Nimbus Sea’s insanity range take like… 3 minutes to enter?
  • Are legendary atlanteans even real, theyre just fake… right?

You dont gotta answer them, but like… Some of these I am very curious about!

It seems to be a chance of replacing regular ponds, so no.

Yes, there may be another biome I’m unaware of.

If we’re not counting the Epicenter, likely donut/ring type Far Reaches islands.

I was returning from a trip 2 days ago and met this biome on the first range, it’s simply a rare one (alongside the pirate one)

180-240 if I recall correctly, similar to Nimbus NPCs.

They’re fishable on the Insanity 1+ ranges.

Either Far Reaches-type volcanoes, or the “fake” ones at the Epicenter.

It’s the highest tier of Atlantean, on an average endgame level of 600+. Encounterable on the last two ranges.

It always points toward centre of sea (e.g. centre of nimbus sea)

Also regular compass stopps working when u enter dark sea

its rare but yeah, thats the main way to get it, if not the only

pretty sure i saw some in i0, could be the wrong kind tho since i couldnt break the crystal with either wind or ice magic

the normal compass stay where it is when you enter the dark sea, it occasionally spin around

in other words, yeah

pretty sure they are, just pretty damn deep into the ds

Unless you’re talking about volcanic biome (which iirc only spawns Tartarus tears) then yeah

Big enough that I almost died running back to my ship when afflicted with water poisoning at full health

Well…

Is there a ship setup for soley reaching the epicenter?
Is insanity 2 even viable lootwise?
Is there a ship tier highr than “Greatly Armored”?
Does having more people increase the dark seas chaos?
Do tornadoes get bigger in higher ranges?
Do the waves actually touch the sky in range 5 or WHAT?

Just a few… More… “Theoretical” questiosn, but since youve been to range 5… Also curious bout the epicenter one- Really wanna find that guy someday

The Fast

Warship Sail Speed cloth + Brisk Hull + No cannon/siege weapon + Speed deckhands (helps a lot but not necessary)

If you’re already going to range 2 might as well as invest in a Diver set and go to insanity 5. I can get you a screenshot of my Dark Diver if you want

Majorly Armoured I think. Didn’t tried to fight any so idk for sure

Just in case you were wondering as well (since it is a pain to test and we are on the topic of unusual dark sea questions) Islands in the dark sea do not spawn if you do not have a ship. I swam from the insanity 1 range all the way back out of the dark sea and I didn’t see a single one.
