Somebody took my artist role

I’m not exactly known for making friends on this site, but one thing I have done is earn the Artist role. I don’t use it often, I’ll grant you, but I did get it and occasionally use it.

Sadly, it seems somebody decided they could just make me not have that anymore. They didn’t even tell me or anything, they just decided “nah, you can’t have this anymore.”

My last post in Art was a pretty high-quality piece, considering the typical standard of my work. I can’t help but feel like somebody just decided “I don’t like you, I’m going to take away the one tangible thing you have on this website”.

I did screw up a couple times and put out some low-quality pieces; seeing as how spicytuna can just draw a good 9 lines in the shape of a femboy, and people only complain about the clothing style, not the quality, I assumed it was fine at the time.
I did get a stern talking-to after both of those instances, though, and it never happened again. I learned then that it wasn’t that I was bad at art, it’s that I wasn’t even trying to make something passable.

I still really do feel like somebody with too much power in their head just didn’t really like me, but if I actually did mess up, you could’ve told me.

I don’t think it’ll be too much of a problem if I just ping a couple of wise-enough people who might have a word on this.

If either of you have nothing to do or say about this, be on your merry way.

Hey @Mr_hyperspace, you wanna come say “L Bozo” or something? I was hoping for a reply by now, and I don’t want this post to go in the dumpster.

Well, he was typing for a bit, but I guess he forgor or something.

I believe this is back towards JTN’s post a few years back where

Motor tried to apply for art, but he was denied as his art was insufficient, mediocre back then (No hate)

I believe the removal might be intended

Well, it hasn’t even been one year since I got it.

here i’ll do it for him, womp womp
my plans are beyond your understanding

Good boy. pat pat on little head

Wait until he hears about optical :sob:

I meant this moreso in recent recent times, just because I’ve noticed it more than I did around a year ago. Of course as you mentioned the requirements were stricter way back, which I don’t necessarily think is a bad thing

I explicitly told you the higher trust levels were gonna get you if you kept posting things where the actual art was less of a focus than something else in the post

Looking back on your art posts, I think like 1 of them was there specifically for the art, and all the other ones were either asking a question or writing something with a doodle included.

Look at the other posts in art and compare yours to them, you’ll notice a stark difference in intent and quality.

Also L bozo

what do people have against you again i forgot

General dumbassery and inability to behave with social prowess

Also a lot of derailing (stocks gonna say I’m lying or that I also do these things I’m calling it)

Also consistently insulting the rest of the forums along with the mods doesn’t help

Speaking of, why the FUCK is this in site feedback

It’s in relation to the site specifically? Idk if it would be necessarily be off topic or game discussion

Less related to the site and more it’s users
System or discobot did not take stocks art privileges

Yeah u may be right idk

I feel like it’d be fair to move it to off topic, if a tl3 doesn’t mind

I brought it up in Artist Recruiter, and we held a vote that ultimately led to the decision to remove your artist role. I apologize for not informing you sooner—I take full responsibility for that oversight.

That said, I believe the reasons I presented for the vote were fair, and others seemed to agree. Please know that this decision was purely based on artistic criteria and not personal in any way.

The reasons why your role was removed are:

  • You rarely post art in the art topic.
  • The art you have posted has gotten moved to other topics or doesn’t clearly fit in the art topic.
  • Your posts in the art topic are infrequent and lack the level of detail and polish we’re looking for.
  • You used one of your art posts (which was later moved) as a way to get moderators’ attention after your suggestion posts were removed (see here: Late-game effects).

These are the two topics that were posted in the art topic but got moved:

A topic you created in game-discussion includes a doodle with a similar level of detail and quality as the other artwork you’ve posted in the art topic.

These are art pieces that you have posted in art-topic (besides the ones that were moved):

This is your most recent post, which would be a better fit in the writing or game discussion topics, as the artwork itself doesn’t quite stand on its own and appears more like a quick illustration intended as a visual aid for your writing.

If you’d like to submit a new artist request, you’re welcome to do so. If you feel this decision wasn’t made on fair grounds, I’m open to discussing it further, and I can bring it up with the artist recruiters.

I agree that you should have been informed; however, I would point out that you’ve received two prior warnings through having your topics moved.

I wouldn’t say artist recruiters are stricter now; rather, there are simply more people involved in handling and voting on requests. Previously, it was on one or two people to make decisions, but now there’s a wider discussion about what meets the standard. With more voices in the process, the quality bar has naturally aligned with what it ideally should have been. This doesn’t mean that existing artists will lose their roles, but if an artist’s work consistently lacks quality, misuses the art topic, causes issues, or doesn’t fit the topic, recruiters have the option to bring it up with other recruiters and hold a vote.
