Spirit requirements

Is it normal that spirit can’t use a lot of skills in ultimate art? For example nichtaplia, which costs a whopping 400 spirit stat. Or aithiraki, which costs 360 in ANY slot for some reason (despite being a coded AND shown rite with level 165 iirc).

This really puts oracles at a disadvantage, since by itself they have 22 rites and just 5 weapons, but barely being able to use some ultimate arts while warriors get a ton of ultimate arts. This really hinders current play styles with oracle (I am not counting the amount of rites & relics since that should be fixed in the future, or so i hope).

But the base question is, what the hell happened?

Bums played off-brand magic in a game with fully accessible and infinitely better real magic

ult arts generally kinda suck now

the only ult art I’ve had that wasn’t just bad is spirit rain, because it gets quite a bit of range when ult arted

That is true too, i mean the only ult arts i’ve liked is roar of glory and thalakyma, but otherwise they are all bad

Vman remembered the agenda is to beat up Spirit whenever possible and then made the class as expensive as possible.

Fun fact, this is wrong lol; yeah, 5 Relics, but theres only 11 Default rites, and every relic has 2 unique ones— thats only 21 if we could actually use them all. Oracle can’t use Floganymai and Aithraki, so its 19 right now, which is just enough for Oracle to use every default rite they have if you run both Crystal orb And Ember Staff.

Unironically though, Oracle might just be the build with the least possible ultimate arts out of its usable tools because of how expensive the rites were made some time later in development. Like despite being level 80, Relics of that level are closer in costs to that of a level 100 Weapon for some reason.

As I’ve said in many other places;
baby’s first magic.

It’s literally just off-brand magic as you say, with preset skills and NO customizability.
Oh, wait, but there’s a tiny bit of regeneration applied at base… but with otherwise worse attacks.

Relics in my eyes was a hastily thrown together thing just to create a new class.
They don’t even get proper synergies till later levels, and then the rites would likely cost way more.

You’re all wrong—

Babies first weapon build to be honest. It’s not to far of in abilities from the average weapon build despite having the potential to. No synergies, basic tools with the jankiest stat spread (WHY), can’t use grease, can’t be imbued.

Vetex also felt like saving all the good gimmicks spirit does have for much later rites, when he should’ve just made weaker versions of them: “Spirit is really good for Healing, summoning creatures, and creating natural / permanent effects?” Yeah, lets not let them do ANY of that on their rites right now and just give them Magics tool set; and anything Spirit gets that Magic doesn’t have, just also give it to magic!

nah nah, you’re wrong too.
baby’s first build

it’s too shit to be a weapon, having no inbuilt synergies.
it’s too shit to be a magic, factually worse stats than basically all magics.

yet it’s so stupidly simple to understand, as its equip and you automatically have all of the rites for said relic, with weapons you at least have to get higher levels and can customize a lot, spirit gives you the bare fucking minimum it’s better to do a stat reset for magic if you like the playstyle.

Honestly a lot like AA’s magic, with preset moves

close enough.
welcome back AA magic.

I feel like its more or less as if Spirit were built… entirely to be a Hybrid build.

Unlike every other build, I can confidently say that every Spirit Hybrid is probably better than Oracle.

  • Mage has like 30 more spells, can make use of its magics status effects and synergies, and gets so much more customization to help it stand on its own against hybrids.
  • Berserker is kinda like Oracle, but It actually gets to use the perks it has on its own. Every fighting styles perks also work together quite nicely, and again, it can be customized in terms of ability options.
  • And Warrior actually has fucking tools. and even though its move can’t be customized directly (weapon type and such effects the moves by a bit), it still gets a lot of utility out of the ability to modify the weapons, AND ACTUALLY HAS TOOLS TO MODIFY.

You know what benefits you get for using Oracle?? yeah, 15% damage on one relic (after you sell your soul to the Dark Seas), and 10 more size (everybody already anihilates continents)! Whats that? your relics have low damage values and could really use those affinities the Relics have? kill yourself. One application of burn, and no abilities that Relics with it either lol.

And then, Spirit being lackluster on its own affects it when it finally does work in hybrids, and makes them feel slightly sloppier. Spirit’s entire use is basically just its Imbue, as everything else is just too rigid to be utilized, and too few to combat that— 11 skills, on a class that starts with 15??? who let this slide in???

at this point, Spirit is going to need its own update again, and every single time Spirit has gotten something, the content for it was in such a small quantity, that the problem resurrects itself in 5 minutes because “Oops! I gave all of Spirits Abilities to Mage and Warrior again!”

Deadass Oracle needs a rework, it’s simply far too similar to magic and far too shit, it’s going to be a mess of buffing slightly every update to poke the waters with the thing we have right now.

The current base builds are classified by type;
Magic is long-ranged attacks.
Warrior is heavy “melee”
Berserker is versatile melee + ranged, but not being as strong as magic nor as strong as warrior.
Oracle is… long ranged attacks… with a tiny bit of life steal (regeneration)?

at this point just make oracle a teamwork build, healing, buffing, just something that makes it different from the rest of the classes.

Just making it a support class is stupid, because for most of your playtime you are playing completely alone. So vitality is effortlessly left as this silly untouched stat in the menu for most of your playtime because everyone who does use it has to be playing with multiple people

It needs to be different somehow, I just gave a really non-thought-out idea inspired by its origins as Warden.

Yeah but expecting someone to complete the entire story with a support class is just absurd (plus mage gets support options while still retaining its firepower)

Summoner with team buff side shtick

The real solution is to stop giving mage everything, but we need to look at realistic options. Spirit could get more of a defined expectation of tools involving supportive moves (it already has this identity anyways, Vetex just didn’t let us use any of it), but I doubt this would help.

The second real solution then, is to actually give it some universal customization. Every other build can customize its main form of offense; Oracle is the worst at this. Be it due to rite count, relic count, and the actual methods of customization— Oracle is just too stagnant. This is why all the Spirit Hybrids are better ngl, they can do something else with Relics.

Weapons have:

  • multiple skills;
  • multiple weapons which have very large differences;
  • weapons have restrictions on skill pool that you must work around;
  • Weapons alter their skills by a certain bit based on the type;
  • weapons have certain statuses (Bruised, bleed, and other effects);
  • and weapons can get new statuses through Grease.

Spirit is the sibling class of Weapons and it doesn’t get half of this.

someone may then say that mage already gets a summon ability.
but spirit could focus ENTIRELY on summoner and buffing, e.g. having a strong but slow summon, flying one, bla bla and so on.

just SOMETHING different is needed, Oracle is such a pain to play, I had to switch to Knight just to beat Allanon, and my damage got nearly doubled without drawbacks.

Man summoning sounds so cool! sure would be nice if we had a summoning skill that we were shown!

I still stand by the fact that Spirit Hound should’ve been a summon move though. The ability to manipulate physical objects and living objects for whatever reason has blast/beam/explosion when it could’ve had Summon/Self-buff&minion-buff/Utility

Know what? Turn conjurer into oracle and delete spirit

Conjurer content achieved? :check_box_with_check:

Removed content bloat? :check_box_with_check:

No more originality issues? :check_box_with_check:
