Mayhap. But I would personally value the base magics having interesting gimmicks more than having the fun stuff be locked behind features not even in the game yet.

throwing the same potion on somebody twice upgrades the effects by 1 tier as well as resetting its duration with no limit.

I got a few.
Make explosive barrels explode as soon as you interact with them in any way. (Via bumping, picking up, putting down) and make it random if it does or does not explode.
Make every NPC ship want you dead throughout the entire sea, good or bad, they want you dead and will sail across the entire sea you are in to get you, including boss ships, while being unable to damage one-another.
Make all forms of currency only be gainable 1 at a time, so you only gain a single drachma with every activity of any kind.
Edit: Seems people are getting it already, looks like my awful ideas are working.
