Tell me a bit about your OCs and I'll tell you how they fight

I like coming up with fun and interesting tactics/strategies. Tell me your OCs’ powers, a bit about their personality, and any other important quirks they have, like hobbies or internal struggles. I’ll try to come up with a unique way for them to use their abilities in combat (or just in general).

I’m doing this as a creative exercise mostly, and because I’m bored, and because I want to engage with peoples’ characters more. I hope I’ll be able to keep up with it. Feel free to join in and respond to other people with your own ideas.

Weapons: silent claws, sunken sword, storm bow
He is really evil, plunders castaways then kills them

How about taking full advantage of the dust and smoke clouds produced by his magic? He obscures your vision and then hides magic circles in the smoke, charging up the energy to lethal degrees and letting it loose. Watch out for traps. People call it dirty and unfair, but it’s just efficient.

Ooo a knight, this is going to be fun. Does he use a spirit weapon or is he able to channel spirit energy without such aid?

Eagle patrimony and the night staff

Interesting. How did he get the Staff of Night from Dusk if they’re both assassins? Was there betrayal or were they close and Dusk passed her weapon on to him?

Well he doesn’t really have lore, at least yet. He’s just my evil file. Just an evil little goober who likes murdering trolling castaways

Are we talking OCs in general or just AO slots in specific?

I could do either tbh but it’s easier if it’s an OC

not my character (belongs to hugo), but i wanna see what you come up with

this guy, Hamilton, is a very formidable and experienced mage from noble lineage, serving as their main powerhouse and bodyguard. he has Aether and Wave magic, alongside some heavy arcanium armor that he channels his wave magic through to reduce incoming magical damage.

His goals usually range from preventing casualties of innocents and protecting important individuals to eliminating enemies that the house finds “problematic”.

He blindly follows orders, his self thinking shattered by the loss of his closest family members, including his wife and son.

welp why not?
Remi Crest
Savant (merciful)
She uses Fire Magic, Basic Combat, no Spirit Weapons(yet, I might create some in the future), uses a short sword and revolver(yes, a revolver because I hate flintlock firearms, could’ve been worse honestly if I gave her something like a GAU-19 but I digress)
The sword is just a sword, but the revolver… I’ll just pull up the concept art my friend drew(kudos to Sam001002), mb for it being upside down I just blame technology for being technology

  • Basically likes to help people
  • Was an amnesiac so she occasionally goes through random flashbacks
  • Struggles with arachnophobia
  • 0 alcohol tolerance. Period.
  • Personality is very dynamic because of previously mentioned amnesia

Cook well bro :folded_hands:
Edit #1: added some more stuff

My main James was born in Sameria with sand magic (much to his mothers excitement) but his step dad who trained him to fight was from Thorne and didn’t like magic so while training with heavy weapons (greataxe) under his stepdad his mom helped him train his sand magic (in game, this would translate to a relatively balanced split of magic and weapons, rn I’m running 150 magic and 130 wep)

Now he is grown up and really enjoys hunting and fighting powerful creatures and improving his skills (think the kinda guy to try fighting a bear). His favorite weapon is his beloved greataxe, and likes to manipulate his sand magic into the shape of weapons. Much of his fathers training focused on improving his strength, so he is fairly strong (not superhuman strength or bodybuilder strength like that) and athletic. He has been on multiple expeditions into the dark sea, his longest stay there was just under a year, after which he came out rather large for a human. He enjoys going into the dark sea, with all of the monsters he can fight and frame in his ship it presents to him some very welcome challenges. He also likes sandstorms for some reason.

edit: added more information (sorry for added more things so late)

The Thorne empire better be making that kinda shit

He fights fast and brutal. Likes to linger high above his opponents using Rising Tide and rites like Spirit Walk and Spirit Rise. This often has a disorienting effect as his foes can barely keep track of him, and keeping their eyes on the sky quickly strains their necks.

The paralysis from the Eagle Patrimony imbued Sunken Sword, and the slowing effect of Nichtethesis, greatly exemplify this difference in speed. Zion likes watching them struggle.

Even defensive rites like Spirit Wall can be corrupted and repurposed into tools for harm. With his razor-sharp claws, he slashes through his own barriers, gouging you with a flurry of broken shards.

Sometimes the persistent victims take him by surprise and manage to get a hit in. But Nichtapalia ensures their efforts are in vain. There’s nothing like the hopeless look they give as their attacks uselessly bounce off.

High-level spirit weapons can manipulate the physical environment. I imagine Zion would eventually start using stone-tipped arrows that he can modify the trajectory of with spirit control.

Aether Magic is a fascinating choice for someone who’s supposed to minimize casualties and prevent collateral damage. I wonder if, perhaps, he struggled with it in his youth? Mutation was such an exciting thing, but Aether proved to be nothing like his old magic. It was explosive, volatile, dangerous.

He was painfully aware of the responsibility and weight of this power. If he went all-out, he caused more harm than good. If he hesitated, people died anyway. He grew anxious and lost his trust and belief in himself. His growth and rank stagnated, for a while.

Eventually, he decided to resign himself to raw order and hierarchy. If he couldn’t trust in himself, he would trust wholly in those above him. Every command was to be followed exactly as described. He would exert and receive control in equal amounts.

He gained his second mutation, Wave Magic. It changed everything about how he fought. It wasn’t just a tool to moderate his opponents’ power, it was also the key to keeping his own strength in check.

He now uses Aether and Wave in tandem; conjuring a “core” of Wave Magic within the center of his Aether blasts, which forces them to condense. The explosive force could be contained!

The result was extremely dense shots of magic that cause unparalleled damage localized to a small area. Freakishly efficient at tearing through opponents, with low risk of collateral damage.

Not to mention, it’s also beautiful! Vast gradients of yellow and blue light, swirling together in a deathly spiral. Quite the sight to see. The kingdom’s pride.

I’ll just pick 2 of my favorites, you can pick either!

  1. Jonathan Moses (Their theme is centered about testing a normal man’s patience/limits with a good heart when faced against people like Judge Holden)

-He can be a bit timid but he is generally gentle and kind-hearted and often leaning on the awkward side (this shows heavily when interacting with kids, he’s bad at handling them) he is also the type to be a grudge bearer, often being envious of someone who is better than him in a thing, and is quite petty/passive-aggressive. They struggle with their own skills and tend to have their self-esteem destroyed whenever someone’s better than them (except for his big sister).

They love to study and talk about plants most of the time, mild interest in paleontology.

They start off with a base Earth Magic as their first mind, and a base Light Magic for their second mind. They have a few spells in their arsenals that he was taught to by his mentors. He isn’t really a fighter at first so he just tries really tries to remember what he was taught instead of thinking on his own.

  1. Tim Weaver (Their theme is about someone who is a monster deep down but tries to fabricate even a little bit of humanity in themselves even if its fake)

-This is my very favorite, he’s my protagonist on my Online Fighting verse. He is a man born with a disability in his brain that rendered his emotions to null (I might change this to make it more believable) he acts only for his self-benefit and is obsessed with ‘progression’ but follows a code of honor. He was raised by emotionally available, understanding and loving parents and thus out of respect for them he tries to be a good man who is capable of human empathy. Silent but extremely talkative and thought-provoking if you converse with him. He’s similar to Durza except more mature and logical.

He is pretty smug, just in a monotonous way, and instinctively looks down on people he thinks are beneath him. He REALLY likes food and eating, he’d eat anything that is okay-ish to eat, like insects. He has a knack for exploring since he is highly curious.

He starts off with all three of his mind as Water Magic, all of which are mastered variants. Not a savant but he knows how to throw a punch or how to swing a weapon properly.
