This is really cool! I like the references to the MC and Enzior, and giving the MC a subtle trace of personality with how they were very eager to speak and give advice but wouldn’t detail the more important specifics. Nice person but has the self-control to remain secretive for their own safety.
It’s also neat hearing about a character noted to be from the time before Lesser Lost Magics were a thing. Cool worldbuilding!
I would love to read a story with Nasir and his son now that they’ve been hinted at. Gives a currently-underdeveloped canon character some, well… character, plus I’d get to learn about a whole new OC. He sounds quite strong, knowing two magics, one of which is Lost. I guess that’s expected for the son of a general. I wonder how that weighs on him, if at all… Is he fine with the expectations that the citizens would naturally have for him to live up to his father? How does he feel about how dangerous his dad’s job is, knowing any day he might not come back? All questions that would be pretty cool to explore.
Anyway, this is a nice story overall! What’s the protagonist’s name? Judging by her Wind Magic I’m assuming this is the same character as the one in your other story, but taking into consideration her very grim demise so soon after discovering her magic (as opposed to here where she seems a lot more experienced and is even thinking about mutation), these seem to be alternate timelines.
Why do I feel like, through some unfortunate hijinks, she’s going to end up mutating Wind to Storm?
