Not as huge, but when mud magic got removed from the old lost magics list people got pissy, enough to warrant Vetex to remove the full lost and ancient magics list from the trello

I think there were some people legitimately mad, at the very least enough people who were actually mad to warrant vetex to remove the list

im gonna reword this entirely cause i feel kinda mean and stupid (i didnt look at enough before posting ts)
i think vetex couldve handled this way better (i think he was actually justified in getting angry and whatnot, but by handling the community being upset and creating drama in the way he did he only made it worse and gave them more things to bicker about)
i understand getting angry with vetex for a lot of reasons but verbal harrassment isnt acceptable regardless of what causes it
did he do good at deciding the new names? not in the slightest 
does that make it reasonable to harrass him over it and pin it as proof of every bad thing that gets said against him? not in the slightest
thats basically it. i hope something like this doesnt happen again but i feel like it definitely will eventually

Mud Magic being “too joke-ish” or whatever is just a cover-up. It’d simply be too powerful, just like Promethean Fire.
Literally, it has the status effect of Frostwater Bow from AA, it makes you slow. AND it can create puddles that ALSO made you slow.
Combine that with a decently speedy second magic and you’re the king of the ring.
I mean you could’ve also said that slowness in game is pretty toxic (in fact that shit got so hugely nerfed as a potion effect bcuz of how annoying it was) but yeah essentially this could’ve been very annoying.
Even with it as your sort of supportive magic you could make slower magics much more potent and make faster magics even more oppressive.
Promethean flame got removed because it would’ve been 10x as bullshit lets be real
Promethean Flame could have been obtainable if it was just balanced well. Don’t even hit me with that shit.
Congratulations, you have a magic with 6 status effects, worthy of being an ancient, now lower its base stats accordingly and you’ve got a perfectly usable magic.
It doesn’t even have, like, an obviously busted mechanic like mud.
okay so like 6 different possible synergies at once is, you know, kind of annoying
it also could potentially powercreep inferno if the DoT is to high, or any other magic for that matter. If the magic itself isn’t dogshit in base stats it would just flat out be the best magic always, and even then it would be an annoyingly powerful damage stacking magic

I mean, honestly, for an ancient, it’s fine.
If Mud Magic was an ancient, then I think it’d work.
The thing with mud is that you can just get another thing to work for you there, because it’s a lost; but if it were an ancient, then it’d have to be your all-in thing. Y’know, you only get one ancient slot.
that’s also kind of a problem in it of itself
If you have one ancient magic that’s blatantly overpowered and the easiest to apply to 90% of builds, people wouldn’t really choose much else pvp wise for magic.
So make all of them equally overpowered, and make all the other builds max-level rewards also equally overpowered.
It’s like I said, just balance it well and you can add any of them.
I mean, obviously Equinox is just going to be Shadow++, but that doesn’t mean every mage ever will only use Equinox. You can still pick inferno for massive burns, or scorch for explosive size.
pros: sounds cool
cons: doesn’t really fit, accidentally implies the existence of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, France, the Papal states, the Seljuk empire, and Israel to be canon in the AU
If vetex insists calling warlord “strong warrior” could he at least find another word that has more gravitas than strong. One of those times that I can’t let go of these types of peeves
