musescore is definitely the best free notation program out there! I would stick to that if you’re on a budget and decent quality. The only drawback is you can’t make electronic music with it buuuut I’m sure that won’t be too much of an issue for you

Agreed, been using it for like 5+ years mostly for fun or personal projects
Only complaint is the instruments sound pretty “robotic” or artificial, but overall it’s a good program for free

that’s really something you can’t avoid though unfortunately, but I think it’s like that because it’s affordable for musescore and musescore is meant to write pieces that’ll end up being played by live instruments anyways
