There is a lack of leadership in this “team”.
No clear goal or vision. After nimbus release a majority of bteam members quit.
Theres a constant going back and forth because of this lack of leadership. Were heading into the next update just undoing alot of the bs the bteam suggested in the first place. While also enforcing things that just consistently dumb the game down.
Sooner or later there will be no uniqueness to what ever magic or build u pick everything will relativley have similar stats. If you havent noticed we’ve been trending in that direction quite a bit.
If I were lead ao would be better off I’d have clear goals and visions dipicted for the team to work towards. I’d push the team to come up with more ideas to give more depth to the game rather dumbing it down.
Examples of dumbing the game down. And possible fixes or ideas that are structured in a better direction: (none of these ideas are absolute but to give the team an idea and general direction to follow a vision…)
Removing stuns; instead i would give magics with out stuns more gimicks like solid magic being able to summon small barriers upon shooting the ground etc.
Nerfing agility; AO’s movement is what seperates it from alot of games and i would double down and capitalize off of it. There’s a multitude of better ways to nerf this I’d simply say to come up with more creative ideas that give other classes an edge against high agility classes.
Atk spd nerf; the problem was mostly turret mages and every other atk spd based class had to pay for it. I would suggest the bteam to either come up with ideas that give other classes better tools to counter turret mage, and if all else fails just directly nerf turret mage.
Tldr leadership needs to step up and command a direction cuz rn they might asw command “make the game as bland as possible.”
Yes, there could be better ideas for them but I’m pretty sure in a poll people asked for a 50% agility reduction or something so if people are fine with it then its good
In balance cord there was a poll for atk spd nerf and it lost by land slide. Trust me current bteam doesnt have a vision that aligns with the community that is actually invested into the game. (Orna vision at all matter of fact they just dee problems and decide to dampen the game)Not even vetex likes the bteam.
Tbh b team doesn’t really listen at this point I’m pretty sure this started at 1.14V
when people hated the jewel nerfs b team pretty much didn’t listen IMO now its happening to the atk speed and enchants nerfs (BTW nobody really asked for them). At this point the b team IMO just adds changes that they think are good and ignores the most of the criticisms of the changes
They are just adding changes at this point to do something without any goal (Like you said)
I would say that 1.13V was the most balanced version in terms of all the versions (This really shows that if the b team kinda listened a bit more (in polls in the #Doc changes) the game would be in a slightly better state)
I don’t have much hope for the b team in terms of changes since some of the changes are very random and they don’t focus on bigger problems more (Such as size warrior)
I mean IMO if you really want to be big in the bcord and want to join the b team then you need to post good suggestions and a lot of them to get on there
The balance team is certainly much more decentralized opposed to what it used to be. Beforehand, it seemed moreso like a structured system, with a working layout, the layout being:
discussion in public balancecoord between balancers and the public —> discussion in private balancecoord between testers and balancers —> suggestions made by balancers which were voted on by the public, changed accordingly, and then implemented.
it seems that between the sunken warrior update and the nimbus sea release, we lost some communication with the balancers. They stopped responding to voting results, putting changes in the doc which were not even hinted at to the public, and ignoring our collective disapproval of them.
Actually would be a cool thing to add, since right now the only differences between magics are base stats, if it has dot, clashes and interactions with one or 2 specific other magics (e.g Ice and Water, Lightning and Water).
Adding unique things for most if not all magics would be really cool, since right now there’s barely a difference between magics like Glass and Metal, that difference being only base stats and clashes.
Humor me for a second ur a bteam member if instead let me ask you. Try to come up with a couple ways the could possibly counter agility. Get as creative as you want disregaurd whether or not it would actually get added to to the game just have fun with the process for example what if there was skills for example that could tie u and another player together for certain distances like a tether. It could be called “soul lock” and could be spirit weapon special ability. Making you and another player not aloud to get too far from each other for a set amount of time.
This idea probably isnt even applicable but the its about enjoying the process of making the idea in the first place that is ultimatly going to amplify and enhance the ao experience.
Tbh abilities that counter agility should be high req skills since it makes sense slows in pvp aren’t the best as we seen ironskin slow strat having a brief slow is good (Stuns right now)
The tether wouldnt slow any one down it would just limit how far you guys can run from eachother basically like a very watered down domain expansion kinda not rlly
Thats fine im not attached to the idea, what I’m really trying to get across is there is alot of fun in the process of balancing the game. Thats totally being missed out on. I think we should be bouncing more ideas off eachother as a community. Wouldn’t that be the best way to come together as a community anyways?
