idk if it’s just because weapons are quicker but i usually just jump into the water, forgetting there are sharks there, and then just attack them while they attack me
also a weird but good strat to evade a shark bite (NOT IRL) is to swim in a spiral pattern upwards and it would be better if i could record myself doing it, as it is sort of difficult to pull of
i’m literally using a bronze musket because it’s the only way I can attack them underwater

my dagger throw does like 250 so i just use it when they get close for a guaranteed hit, you could try too

the musket works sometimes. when they jump me I’ve been spamming my explosion and shockwave moves. they still do a huge chunk of my health though
also, these chests are impossible to find underwater. wayyy too dark
