I completely agree with you lol, I enjoy having tension like this in videogames, hell sometimes I even WANT to get ganked. (But for some reason I don’t want to gank)

It’s also why I like doing wild runs in starscape I enjoy running the fuck away from someone or fighting them back (I am ass at pvp because I never tried to learn SS pvp but still)

So, Flem here, time to go over it and discuss it as i’ve read through it and thought about a few of your points.

I disagree. I disagree largely, this has to be stated upfront. Let’s go through why.

This game is not balanced around global pvp, as a first point. It is a part of balance, yes- but it is not one of the major factors in game that challenge the general player, it is more so a sidething one has to be careful about when gathering loot.
How does one gather loot? PvE, of course.
The usual dark sea run WILL always have dangers like lightning bolts, waves, enemies (atlanteans) and more unless one knows how to avoid such- but rarely ever does it lead to PvP, unless someone decided to ruin your day in specific.

Calling people that do not PvP “babies” also largely invalidates your argument.
Impoliteness is… not particularly good when trying to get ones point accross- do i, who does not engage in PvP due to health complications and disabilities, look like a baby to you?

Also, as someone has brought up- while files specifically made for pvp/pve would be one solution, it is not optimised.
Would one have to remake their file one spend hours and hours on just to do pvp? Just to do pve?
Renown is also attached to major game functions- such can not just be removed.
Yes, a toggle may seem restrictive- but it is the simpler and easier option for everyone.

This is basically just “I’m insulting people who don’t do PVP” with a lot of words.

Me just wanting to complete the fishipedia to 100%, seeing that PVE is easier to survive with bad internet than PVP where someone can make their build to abuse someone’s bad internet (mage attack speed build for example.)

AND, low levels not wanting to be ganked by a level 120, WOWIE! Almost like vetex actually DOES care about the fact his community isn’t PVP heavy!

the problem with constant pvp is the max levels killing low levels.

constant pvp could work, but at the very least, you’d need to make it so only, say, people with an awakening can get ganked.

It’s maths mate. Game devs aim to maximise player enjoyment, correct? When a player takes enjoyment from someone else, they double that enjoyment for themselves.
Say player A randomly kills player B. Player A has 1 enjoyment from being bored with no pvp. Player B has 5 enjoyment as they’re excited to play through the game. When player A kills player B while they’re doing the story, Player B’s immersion breaks and they’re annoyed by losing galleons and having to go back to where they died. They lose 4 enjoyment. But player A gains 5 enjoyment: 4 from the transfer of enjoyment, 1 from their own pleasure of killing.

Let’s take it a step further. Let’s say Player AG waits and pretends to guard player CZ (a step even further, they’re a Hero so they have to pay for the cargo) while they fill their ketch to the brim with cargo. Once player CZ is finished, player AG lets them sail out a while to maximise CZ’s enjoyment (CZ slowly gains enjoyment the farther they sail)
Then, AG strikes, as CZ is just going out of render distance. He sails over with his brig and annihilates her ketch then kills her while spamming “ez”. The enjoyment that CZ had (5) plummets to -2, but AG gains 15 enjoyment, a gigantic increase in the total amount of enjoyment in the world.
From a utilitarian standpoint, griefing is amazing game design.

Shit players arent able to look beyond the 200 galleons they lost to realize that if a threat like that doesnt exist, overworld activities become no-brained grinds. Fishing with a negative rep feels nice because you 2 could kill each other and yet you dont, if you couldnt, part of the magic goes away
