After trading a frozen arcsphere to a Value List editor, the value “somehow” doubled 1 hour later
luckily i kept my other one
someone is pulling strings
the value list that is managed and maintained by an oligarchy of the wealthiest players in the game getting manipulated to further said players’ wealth and goals!? no way!!
nah but this honestly shouldnt be surprising to anyone
The value list likely changes significantly depending on whether the people in charge of it want to buy that item or sell it
yeah but i find it pretty funny and wierd that some random players control the entire marketplace because of their fame
what I do now is just base the value the other side’s point of view and how much of that item they have. So if they have a ton of armored then im not giving them armored for brisk but something else. Got Hallowed recently with this tactic, much better than value list and im sure players will be demanding an old seasonal like that
its a massive conspiracy to control and manipulate the economy
doesn’t the value list just measure in galleons? this game has a trade economy, who even thought of that system
I tried to get them to switch to a tierlist system instead of measuring everything in galleons but that flopped and now this faulty system is still in play. The list is heavily outdated and flawed anyways and ive seen barely anyone really follow it like a rulebook anymore which is good
its the crash of October 28, 1929 all over again
At this point, galleons would be more valuable melted down into their base materials and used for tools/weapons/decorations than as a currency.
We’ve really hit the point in AO where paper currency is worth less than plain paper because the currency is already stained.
yea, notebooks are actually more worth than trading in galleons since they have an actual use
Bring out the guilliotine!
Oh my goodness gracious, an obscure group of shareholders having the some of the greatest combined wealth in video gaming economy secretlycontrol and manipulate the market to fufill their own ends?!?!? No way!!
(Complete sentence)
they will be silenced
sigh As I have expected when I failed to trade my 1 Acrimony for 2 sunken warrior pieces. It’s a bad price by the community’s standard but something clicked in me. At that moment, I considered the marketplace to not be a place where people exchange goods, but rather, a house where the player with the highest hour of gameplay to show off their wealth. After that thought, I just jokingly said: “INFLATION GO BRRRRRRRRRRT” in front of my laptop.
Speaking of inflation, since the measure of galleon on items is so out of control right now, does that mean galleon is essentially worthless? This feels like a massive debase of the currency caused by whoever was in charge. When was the last time this happens? The Spanish Empire mining too much silver, the Weimar Republic (Germany) promulgating the worst inflation in history, modern day Zimbabwe and Venezuela…This seems to be a recurring pattern in history.
It seems like when it comes to the economy, most just wants to see the bigger numbers go up and up but the study of economics is all about equilibrium, equalizing supply and demand so that one is not greater than the other because that would cause issues in the economy, making the bigger numbers esentially meaningless. Though this does present a dilemma, as an economy grows bigger, it needs someone to manage or control it but that someone is likely going to make attempts to dominate over the entire economy, puttting others in a precarious position in the process. This does present a dilemma, do we keep the economy forever small to maintain stability or do we enlarge it at the risk of being taken over by someone.
I think I’m missing the point here nor is my understanding of economics correct. Please don’t take this post seriously.
Yep. isince most people follow value list, those who dont become a minority. therefore it becomes harder and harder to trade and the people give up and follow it
You perfectly encapsulated the situation.
Now that I realize it, I am now wondering if there would be a Theodore Roosevelt swinging his stick around in the marketplace and sign anti-trust acts to break up the monopoly…
shall we create our own value list with acrimony as the base currency lol
fr and value list will be changed by player feedback
