Trading is such a boring and overly complica- (I fell asleep before I could even finish my point because that’s how lame the arcane odyssey trading community is)
Let Chaos bring forth another accidental wipeout to tank the economy
Another wipe would only hurt the casuals bro
What would happen if the entire sunkens were wiped out?
This was the forums during the release day of the Nimbus Sea, AKA that moment in time where a bunch of people lost their sunken swords and other valuable weapons due to a bug.
This is the most amount of people on the forums that I’ve ever witnessed. If you look into the topics that were made during this time period, a LOT of people were upset because of the weapon bug. I don’t really use discord, but apparently the server was on fire after the update also.
Now, if all sunkens were wiped out? Stuff would be a lot more chaotic than it was back then, that’s a guarantee.
i knew list was cooked when atl essences started costing this much when hopping i0 islands is essenntially a risk free way to get them, all atlanteans drop at 1/30, even the sailors
That’s the magic of C A P I T A L I S M
Some real “germany in between wars” type shit
Then sunkens would skyrocket in price and only the wealthy players would be able to afford them for a while
Youd be surprised at how little people were actually willing to do this. Most hardcore dark sea grinders only grind dark sealeds afterall. Essences skyrocketed for a while due to very low supply and high demand and now theyre steadily dropping back to their old value due to higher supply and lower demand
To top it all off, essences will prolly fall even further next upd due to the invis nerf
You think this is bad? Just wait until they start paying you with cannon balls that only have value while trading with them (Going for that “Company Scrip” mindset)
Call it Acrypto lol
Make base items cost like 0.0035 Ac
Set up mining schemes where you just deny entry into island with high chest density
Use the mined scrap to value trade for any acrimony you might find in others inventory, creating a monopoly.
While ur at it, make cannon balls your currency in mining islands (they have zero value). Use the cannon balls to pay employees for their scrap (like random armor sets, tools and ingredients) they mine on your islands. Sell somewhat important islands for cannon balls to your employees, like food items, enchantment scrolls, perfect gems and top of the line potions, dark sea loot could also work.
Now you just farm in every acrimony possible and make them your valued currency
(I think i went too overboard with this)
That’s where you’re wrong. Sure, maybe the minority here or on the discords use the value list
But considering overall playerbase, the great majority plays this so casual that if they ever engage in trading, they’ll just look up the value of the item, if they’ll even do that.
That’s where they value list sharks hunt
I mean honestly even if the people behind the list weren’t changing the values to benefit themselves, its crazy that anybody would sell anything of any value for any amount of galleons in this game.
If somebody’s willing to sell a set of sunken gear for galleons, at that point its their own fault for getting scammed.
AO’s economy sucks.
There’s nowhere to spend even a fraction of the ludicrous amount of galleons we have and they just keep increasing in number literally infinitely.
They lose value, not by the day, but by the second.
Yeah, we’re all part of this big ol’ money game
Well you can trust me all you want but I havent seen a single person use the galleonlist on the forums, vetcord, my dms or in game. Sure it definitely is convenient to use the list but even in the galleon discord server people are VERY often advised NOT to use the galleonlist as a rulebook. Using my experience + evidence to disprove it + a very huge lack of evidence to prove it (it being people using the galleonlist as a rulebook) im very confident in saying that the people who do use the list as a rulebook are in the minority atm.
People trade for galleons in the hopes that theyll be useful in the future, which will very likely be the case but itll take a while to get there. Whenever frigates are close to being released, the value of galleons will definitely increase. But i do understand your point, this is exactly why crowns held very low value in wom
Until sunken armor was added and people were expected to grind like 20 billion layers of multiplying RNG, crowns were actually a viable currency in WoM.
Though for the majority of wom (basically all of tgr) crowns held 0 value
galleons arent really worthless since each galleon is worth one galleon (nah bro inflation is so out of hand that a single galleon isnt worth itself)
the problem is more that its easy to come by
if youve seen Marketplace a week or two prior you’ll see that i made posts there trying to buy sand dollars
why sand dollars of all items? because of the word ‘dollar’
Yeah, making a tier list failed because even after some time for traders to adapt, they mostly kept going off the old value list, even if that was severely outdated until the tier format was undermined to the point of being scrapped.
It’s a weird dichotomy between players agreeing that rigid values are unhealthy for the economy, but at the same time when asked to change it:
I guess for some people the benefits of speed and convenience outweigh everything else.
You make a pretty good point, fair enough
On the galleon thing, trading for galleons is not only getting scammed but also taking a major risk since galleons are the only thing you lose when dying
