Theory: Our Characters are just Dreaming

You do know that it’s not a dream. nothing in the lore states or give any clues that it’s a dream.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: what

nah this post is stupid i can’t even defend it im sorry

its just a theory,
but keep in mind the author was talking in the context of the game,
not the lore

Post isn’t stupid, it’s just another way to think

Dyslexia means you can’t interpret things properly, just like in the dreams. Similar to Ancient Text

it’s not stupid just very cliche and a hated cliche at that lol

Not things, you mean words. Albert einstien had dyslexia and he can interpret a lot of stuff.

Just because it may be a cliche, doesn’t discredit the possibility of it.

I am talking about dream dyslexia, not awake dyslexia. I use the word dyslexia to make it easier to understand.

it pretty much does discredit it since storymakers usually try to avoid cliches and tropes

no problem sometimes it just happens brothrrr

@JUMBO it’s more complicated than interpreting things properly. Dreaming isn’t really about the issue of organizing language

okay went through the thread again: I just don’t see what grounds this theory to whether the characters are dreaming their day to day lives. Come to think of it, how do the characters think? Do character avatars have thoughts? Are they simply the puppets of our imagination?

But does every author avoid it? No they do not because they are not cowards.

So we have to interpret it as our characters being the only one just like in dreams. Something nihilistic that everyone else is dumb and we’re the only ones conscious. This would explain why the NPC’s are so stupid and braindead because they aren’t conscious. It is hard to explain the other players, but this is a multiplayer video game so there needs to be some wiggle room.

Why are you keep copy and pasting. You are instantly saying your sentences. I am not saying “typing…”.

authors that do the tropes aren’t cowards lmao they just want something actually good

Because I set my profile as private you cannot even see if I am online. This is to ensure my anonymity, and I am guessing it also makes it so you cannot see when I type

We can agree to disagree, it’s a cliche and trope for a reason: because it’s such a good common idea

keep the discussion civil and on-topic please

@JUMBO unfortunately,
sometimes a trope is overused so much for the sake of lazy writing that it makes you view a work more poorly

take all the shitty “isekai” anime, they’re basically just reskins of each other

I believe if it’s done right, then a trope could be used as a good storytelling device.
