Well on paper it kind of is flawed, until you remember that you can basically get both food and drachma in remarkably high quantities(for the part of the game you’re in), and so in practice it actually works if values are set right, as you pointed out
(please excuse me if I go on and ramble or just repeat whatever people have said, I recently found out some bad news about something that I don’t think is worth discussing here)
yeah, i wanted to focus the debate less on ‘exactly what we see now’ and more of the conceptual. balancing is definitely a given to consider, but also, no one’s really played it yet (to an extent, i wouldn’t think testers have a full grasp of it, since it’s something you’d need to work with long term), so everything should be speculative atm
(haven’t played the game since dark seas release)
idm cooking, it’s a relaxing activity, and the fact it’s more integrated into the game is an improvement considering its many current flaws
recharging during fights is a long standing gameplay loop but the prospect of an uninterrupted fight seems appealing to me as well. i’m cautious but looking forward to this change

I agree.
I think the change is fine as is, but I’m gonna miss the old energy system. It kind of added a more strategic angle to combat with resource management and timing your charging in safe moments while taking risks by leaving yourself more vulnerable to counterplay, but I understand why it was reworked.

The only “soft lock” i can even imagine, is if a guy who fights 5 Redwake Pirates missess all of their attacks and doesnt know that basic combat’s m1s do not cost anything.
Anything beyond that gives you food in early game. And you are required to cook before leaving redwake
