You guys know who I am, the one and only void orb who is utterly insane and loves doing insane stuff! (I still need that mystery Blood disease bro). I love doing potion shenanigans as well, but there isn’t much unique potions in Arcane Odyssey, so here it is. From this point you will read my insane thoughts about unique potion ideas I had.

Main part of suggestion

Tether Potions - Teal colored potions which can only be brewed using multitarget catalysts. Which means you can only make such potions using catalysts which make AoE potions like Supernova. The status effect of this potion is Tethered, which basically connects targets who got hit by the potion with a magic chain, forbidding both to run away from each other and generally makes movement harder. If an already Tethered target is hit with another Tether Potion which connects the target to another creature, the entire chain link is connected along.

Empathy Potion - Reddish-Orange potion which can only be brewed with multitarget catalysts like Tether Potions. Causes Empathy status effect which makes hit targets “share” HP so whenever any of the pair takes damage the damage is split up between all the affected players or NPCs. Similar to Tether potion, if a player with empathy is hit with another empathy potion that will connect another player, the entire empathy link is connected, thus the damage will be split even more.

Retribution Potion - Midnight Blue colored potion that can be used on any type of potion except for Greases and Blood Diseases. Retribution status effect which causes the affected entity to emit glowing blue particles resembling a spiky shield. The status redirects a part of the taken damage based on the potency. You take damage while under this effect - A part of the damage will be dealt to the attacker. This, however, DOES NOT decrease the damage taken.

Berserk Potion that is reddish pink colored. Applies Berserk status effect that increases the general damage taken, however slightly increases your dexterity and power in return. Probably the same thing that is used by Jarl Ivar to power-up. Can be used on any type of potions including Greases and Blood Diseases. (Perhaps an alternative to harming Blood Diseases which just increase damage?)

Hate Potion which is an opposite to Love potions. Being a darker pink substance it can be brewed with any kind of catalyst. Hate status effect is incompatible with Love status effect and vice versa. When applied, the target will:

  1. Obtain a longer aggro radius which will also slightly bypass walls.
  2. Will get more priority in attack, which means the NPCs will attack the affected entity ferociously and more than others.
  3. If it’s an NPC, the surrounding NPCs will aggro on the affected one even if Player aggroed them before that.
  4. And, the nearby players will get their screen shaking rapidly and have its corners shift to dark pink, while they slowly and uncontrollably turn their screen towards the one affected by Hate status effect.

Death Potion that is an alternative to Harming Potions. Black colored ominous substance that will deal percentage based damage to you and temporarily negate your regeneration. (Passive and lifesteal). Longevity and percentage damage based on potency, these potions are probably the hardest to brew because its reagents would only spawn in dark sea. This potion can be brewed with any kind of catalyst.

Silence Potion which is a white glowing substance. Inflicts “Silence” status effect. When being used, it will emanate a fast white shockwave resembling vacuum. Silence status effect makes your game mute, not allowing you to hear anything for a short duration, AND also temporarily forbid you to chat for the duration of the effect. If it was a throwable potion, then not only that, but there will be a temporary zone with no sounds at all, indicated with white particles.

Perplexity Potion - or just Confusion Potion if you don’t like super complex words. Original concept made by @the_wingler.
This potion is dark violet and purple colored, and it’s gimmick is that it switches your keybind movement. Basically, if you press W, you will now go backwards instead of forwards and left if you press D right if you press A and etc. When being Inflicted with such effect, the moment you get hit with it your screen’s corners will briefly Flash purple. Potency affects longevity. NPCs are also affected and their movement in general will be more confusing and if an attack threatens them, they will most likely go right into it instead of dodging.

Will be adding more of these as time passes, but now most importantly - allow Mystery Blood disease plspslplsppls

No. You do NOT know how far the gankers can go with this. Don’t add that. I know you had good intentions, but those animals have no soul and will abuse this to the extreme. Imagine one gathering all three Gravy notoriety ships together, getting every crew member in one spot, and splashing everybody with this. They’re unkillable now! You make the effect unappliable while in combat like invisibility? They can do that during a Castrum/Montu siege, after every enemy receives lobotomy and loses their AI. Those despawn? They can solve a mythical/lost chart spot and do this to the pirates that spawn, they WILL go to these lenghts to get such advantage

me when I bring my 7k HP build and feed 1.6k HP to a boar on sameria

Okay I can see the problem here though I can’t think of a solution

Maybe if the empathy chain is too big it rips and adds a temporary debuff to all the affected targets?

Sure, but just how big? I see this potion having a great use when you are in a Dark Sea party and exploring the islands, and those tend to be large

Just 4 people in one chain is too cruel in my opinion, so I guess 6-7 people in one chain is enough

If the number is higher than that then the chain rips and blurs the vision of the affected targets and also reduces the damage they deal
Is it a good debuff or it could have some work

It generally could have a lot of great uses and could be used in a lot of different situations

Ah, you meant big in the number of units? I thought about the distance! Also, having 6 people in a chain means 87,5% damage reduction for a ganker, putting limits on the number of links in the chain will not work

Distance of the explosion is determined by the type of potion and is probably the same as other potions like Harming Supernova (Thus an Empathy Supernova will have the same size)

Well then 5 max units for the empathy. Thats 80% damage reduction for the ganker if he somehow hits all the 4 other players I guess

Well at least its still better than 10 or even more empathy affected units with bazillion damage reduction

Edit: Added Silence Potion. Initially planned to also forbid you to use any skills or spells and etc. But thought that would be too unfair and illogical
Can anyone send me a high quality image of a POTION (Potion tier, no supernovas, elixirs and other stuff) please? I want to try to use my Editing skills and add these to each one for fun

How could you twice get it wrong? I meant the distance between links after the effect was applied, how far can each go from the others before the chain breaks

Oh that

Well for now it basically has unlimited range, but for balancing purposes it’s range could be reduced to the size of Dawn Island I guess

omggg finally a good suggestion in this stupiddddd dumb forum, just make retribution pots work on base damage (not affected by power) so it doesnt become tooooooooo offensive and done!!!

Mission completed, I got 2how_nim to like my suggestion

Either way yeah it will probably work on the base damage + a fixed amount based on potency otherwisely the power maxxers are gonna suffer

Though if it would scale on total damage it would kind of counter high damage glass cannons, but I think base damage is enough

Added Perplexity or (Confusion) potion

“Any kind of catalyst” Who in their right mind wants to fight against someone with a death blood disease/grease/gel??? Although the greatburst potion alone would bring terror.

Really like the silence, berserker, and retribution potions, although i have to say something about the rest.

Confusion could be alright with a tiny duration, just an extremely incapacitating little time frame, death could be alright if not applicable to gels or blood disease (would just negate the whole regen stat, and aside from that it’s pretty pointless except if it one-shots, and then it’s also dumb, making something rare doesn’t make it balanced, just screws lb pvp even more),

Empathy one that chains hp stats together are honestly insanely unbalanced, like whats stopping a gank squad using this for no one to die, or having a giga tank with a giga regen lord just causing havock.

Aside from that I’d like for the potions to have more than one singular use, per example how the Love potion in game is treated both as a treatment and defensive potion. I think the main flaw with some of these potions is that they focus on PvP, which is for the most part, a place people don’t like seeing potions. Instead, we could have PvE oriented potions with fun, useful or quirky effects.

Some other ideas could be: New catalysts with special applications, utility focused reagents

Also, publishing edits doesn’t really help get an idea out, it’s better to have one huge well done list and use separated carpets and ilustrations as they really do help increase the quality

“Death potion” “Hardest to brew” “Only in the dark sea”
Morden is RIGHT THERE???

Is he so much of a fraud that he, being made of primordial death, cannot brew a death potion?

That be like him giving you a body part in order to make a potion

That’d be the most useful thing he’s done to date
